ATL has better suburbs, City center wise, Houston is better, IMO

I don't want to live there, but I don't think Atlanta has anything comparable to the woodlands.

Pleasure Pier, Kemah Boardwalk and Schlitterbahn are probably your best bet to enertain some teenagers

The main reason it won't really matter that much is because in time, everything shifts in Atlanta. Aside from in town neighborhoods (genuinely residential streets), everything desirable will eventually go south. And even in the neighborhoods, you'll have 1000s of felons transiting the areas around your hood on a daily basis. Just how it is here.

Yep. Take a look at how far Buckhead has gone downhill.

Will never understand how a LA board looks down on Houston and Atlanta. It's baffling.

To live happily in Atlanta you have to come to peace with the reality that you'll see major demographic shift and your favorite places will probably get taken over by hoodrats before being gentrified again in a decade or two.

I’d much rather Atlanta. Atlanta isn’t a great city to be a tourist in but it’s a pretty great city to be a resident. Better weather, better topography. It’s a city in a forest and if you are near the belt line is a sneaky great city for biking. The two hour weekend road trips from Atlanta are much, much better than Houston. Both have airports that get you anywhere and giant economies.

In both cities your daily quality of life will largely depend on how awful your commute is.

Put me down for ATL all day over Houston... Near mountains, lakes, rivers, beaches, and then fine arse Georgia peaches.

do you like to eat and drink?

But yes, Houston/dallas/atlanta are extremely similar and where you are most comfortable is going to come down to what industry you are in and where you have the most friends/family.

We're getting weirdly downvoted for speaking critically about Atlanta on a board that hates Atlanta

Not a popular opinion with some of the conservatives in here, but Austin is the only city in TX I'd live in. It's less dense, has less crime, and more lakes and nature.

If cities without character and souls are your thing, cannot go wrong with either.

Houston has jobs for all the O&G baws from Louisiana, that's why it gets shite on less.

If Austin is less dense than sprawling cities like SA, Dallas and Houston, it won't be for much longer.

the rest of that is true.

I love Austin and everything it has to offer but I think I would prefer to live further out in Hill Country.

yeah, i don't think this board's opinion of houston doesn't really match the rest of the country's. very inflated, at least as compared to other big metro areas.

Nah, Atlanta is pretty bad about it. Nashville is mainly hipster once you look past Broadway. Dallas is just Dallas. Nola is Nola. Houston is Houston.
