We have one objective biological goal as a species: to reproduce.
I guess some were born without this innate sense.

Absolutely. You’ll never love anything more in your life or be loved by anything more in your life.
I have two little girls that I will absolutely travel the ends of the earth and kill for.

100% worth it.
Frustrating as hell especially preteen and teen years for girls, but so many little moments that are the most amazing thing on Earth.
I have 4 girls (15, 10, 3, 1)
Stop at 3. Once we had the 4th it became a circus.

It’s like a lot of things; you get out of it what you put into it. My wife and I poured our hearts and souls into our four children and have been rewarded with a fulfilling family life. We are surrounded by grandchildren after decades of fun raising our children. Discipline of the children will also make or break the experience. Teach the little rats to listen.

You are correct, IMO. If you don't want them don't give them birth.
I always wanted children. Two BoysI spent the time with them and its paid off.
Now I have four grandchildren. Two boys and two girls, and they love their grandparents.
Since the first one was born, I prepared breakfast for them, when they visited. Waffles, Bacon, fried potato logs, what ever.
When my youngest Grand daughter graduated HS, she sent me a picture of the typical breakfast, that I had prepared for them over 18 years, thanking me.
They are special.

Define “worth”.
Are they expensive as hell? Absolutely.
Do they upend your single lifestyle? Without a doubt.
Do they break your heart at times? Oh yeah.
Once here, can you imagine life without them? No.
Do you finally understand “unconditional love”? Yes.
Would you make the choice to have them again? Yes.
However, if one is not capable of being emotionally open and available and just not capable of putting self last then do not have them. You will find no joy and will only bring them a lifetime of misery and pain. Children deserve more.

Whatever you decide, you don’t do it for anyone else other than you and your wife or SO.
Of course anyone that has kids will always tell you great things and never regret it and I get that, but there is also life out there for those that either don’t want the responsibility or can’t.
Kids are not everything in world for those who don’t have them, and quite frankly being a parent isn’t for everyone.
It’s certainly doesn’t make you less of a person by not having children, and life has an opportunity to actually be more enjoyable being free to do other things with your time and money.
Just depends on how you want to live.

Absolutely!! When the wife and I had our first, I wanted a son. Prayed for it, then we found out it was twins. Then found out it was girls. Never had any more children and wouldn’t change a thing about it either. My daughters are now 23 and amaze me to this day!!

Kids are a blessing but, I talked a very reluctant guy in his late 40's into having kids. One. of my best friends. He had two. He loved em and was happy they had them.
5 years later he died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 52.
I think about these little kids growing up without their daddy all the time...
Ugh.
