It does affect others.

We all pay for increased healthcare prices and insurance rates because of it.

Earlier today, I attended a funeral of a chick I knew from hs. Yea, she was over weight and obviously depressed about her situation, so she took her life and when her parents found her, they also found a suicide note explaining everything. For those of you that think fat shaming is a good thing, you need to have someone close to you take his/her life. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!!

That's all I got to say
Fat Shaming is a good thing. Mental Illness isnt. Her mental illness killed her not the fat shaming.

Cept the part where you think it will never be attractive. I suggest you think about what fat meant in the past. And what they term rubeneque means.

I mean fat. Like, a 300 pounder that’s under 6’ tall. Look, I LOVE thick girls. There’s nothing better than that sound of plowing a phat azz from the back. But, Tess Holliday is not attractive. People like her are not attractive.

There is quite a middle ground between being an unrelenting a-hole to someone just because they are fat and telling unhealthy people they can be healthy and (physically) “beautiful at any weight”.

That chart seems off to me.

6'0" 185lbs is boarderline overweight, but 6'0" 140lbs is normal? Seems like there should be one for females and one for males.

I'm failing to see in your OP where she killed herself because she was fat shamed.

I think it can go either way. Yeah embarrassing somebody for being fat might motivate them but I would bet more often than not they would run to food for comfort. I'm fat (hence the username) but I try to stay in shape. The weight just doesn't come off easy like it did when I was younger. Yesterday for instance, woke up at 4:30, jogged around the neighborhood for 25-30 minutes. Showered and drove to work while I had 2 mozzarella cheese sticks for breakfast. Caesar salad for lunch with a measured 2tbsp dressing, and 1 pouch of tuna fish. Supper was 1.5 cups bowtie pasta with red sauce. I do all that to have some prick eating Twinkies all day that weighs 120lbs soaking wet and has a metabolism of a rabbit call me a fatass kinda pisses you off a little.

You're not magic and neither is the little prick.

If someone was consistently eating well above their TDEE and not gaining weight, scientists would be tripping over each other to study the freak of nature. He might seem to be eating endless amount of calories and magically not gaining weight, but that's just not the case.

Same as the reverse. You are not consistently eating below your TDEE and continuing to get heavier. You don't defy science. Somewhere along the line, you're eating higher calorie foods and not counting it, if you're gaining weight or staying fat.

Metabolism changes as we age, but only slightly. The real reason people struggle with weight as they get older is that our lifestyles are dramatically less active, we have more access to food, and we are awake a lot longer therefore hungry more often. I lived in beer and pizza in college, but I slept until 1pm every day (skipping breakfast and lunch), walked easily a mile across LSU's campus going to and from class, and then waited tables for 6 straight hours on my feet every single night.

It fricking sucks to realize, but a 30 minute jog burns barely a cup of nonfat Greek yogurt.

EDIT - I am not a fan of fat shaming, and I honestly couldn't give a shite less who is or isn't overweight. Half my friends are overweight, and I love them wholeheartedly. However, what I do hate is seeing psuedo-science and totally inaccurate information being spread around. I'd much prefer someone say, "I'm overweight because I just like to eat the amount that I do, and I'm not changing" than to make up a false excuse beyond their control as to why they're overweight.

Jogging is not going to make up forbad eating habits.

Your day above looks fine other than being a weirdo and having cheese sticks for breakfast.

But if you are fat, that isn't your typical day or you are eating way more than letting on. Be honest with yourself, weigh everything that goes in your mouth and track it. You are eating way more than you think. Good luck.

First, you're an idiot.

Second, fat shaming is great.

Third, your fat friend had bigger problems than her weight.

maybe fat shaming is kinda fricked, but fat acceptance is horrible for people. We need to quit telling people it's ok. I recently stopped fitting into shirt, looked in the mirror and said...frick I'M FAT! I didn't like it and made changes...so far I've lost 15 lbs, I have more energy, I'm sleeping better and just all around better... Would have really detrimental to my health to accept where I was at...frick that

this is just patently false.

First
People have different metabolisms and burn food at different rates based on hormones, Genetics, any number of things.

Second
Calories are not the be all end all measuring stick there are numerous studies out there that show this

someone who eats 2000 calories of doughnuts a day compared to 2000 calories of vegetables and lean meats will not have the same results. Quit spewing this simplistic narrative.

this type of shite is why dumb arse people where trying the white potato diet in the late eighties
