You pretty much just described almost every small town in the Gulf South.
Interstates and supply chains did in the small towns all over the country. They all used to have their own lumber mill, agriculture, locally owned shops and markets. Now the profits go to corporate HQs of the big block stores, small towns are a shadow of themselves.
But it's been like this for 30 years, nothing new

Many of those apply to the inner cities too.
When you take away people’s pride and purpose and make him dependent to the govt, this is what happens.
Unless poverty is truly painful, it takes a lot of willpower to pull yourself out of it. It takes discipline and drive. It’s easy to suck on the govt tit and live in relative comfort. Food available, entertainment, lodging. And it goes unappreciated.
Unless you have skin in the game it’s hard to really care.

It’s because you’re a miserable person. You can’t see the good in anything and dwell on the negative. At this rate you’ll never be happy. I hope you’ll break out of it but most people like you never do. God speed

Yes, Louisiana’s a huge shithole

It’s not New Hampshire, that’s for sure.

This pretty much describes my hometown in North Louisiana.

This.
The OP seems salty. He must have been "Jodied" in some podunk Louisiana town.
As for New Hampshire, that is a liberal progressive utopia. I guess there the Soy boys won't be drilling his SO...unless, of course, he is a cuck.
If so, carry on with your sad life.

Pretty much nailed my town except we don't have a private school and the public school is not great, but better than shitty.

Outside of farming and a few other jobs most people have to live near at least a mid sized city for work purposes. This is certainly the case for most white collar jobs.
I could probably find a job in Winnsboro but I'd have to take at least a 50% pay cut.

There isn't a thriving middle class in my town, but more than you think. Two banks, each of which have five or 6 people making in the low six figure range, a handful of doctors and lawyers, Consulting foresters, A professional engineer or two, a couple of registered land surveyors. And school employees. That's not counting people who may commute up to an hour or more every day to a white collar job somewhere else. Plus a LOT of people who work out of state or overseas and still maintain their domiciles here. And the richest two guys in town by far don't have a college degrees. Both skilled blue collar workers who started their own businesses, worked their asses off and both have net worths well in excess of ten million.

Welfare hurts people much, much more than it helps.

calling BS
Small town banks do not pay that well, it is unsustainable for them.

Can't speak for all of them. I just happen to know what goes around here.

I very highly doubt it unless you are counting the two digits to the right of the decimal as two of your 6 figures.
