Fact is we're heterogeneous, and we're never going to reach peak productivity (and the higher living standards that come with it) without enlisting and enfranchising all subcultures within a society.
Value judgements aside, we play better together when we think we're on the same team.

Spoken like a true condescending prick.
I blame myself for my failures and I demand others do the same. If that makes me a bigot, so be it.

Every school district in Mississippi was desegregated by 1970.
Boston public schools didn't start desegregating until 1974 and weren't out from under the federal court gun until 1987. LINK
Screw you, you Yankee a-hole.

I have been all over the world with my work and have seen many cultures. Some diverse and some not. What I've learned is that humans, by nature, want to surround themselves with people they identify with. However, when diversity happens organically, it generally works quite well - especially when people ingratiate themselves into the host culture.
What the diversity initiative, as a political tool, has done is forced diversity onto cultures, usually with people who are not willing to accept the culture of the host in any way. This is where the problems begin. To make things worse, the PC crowd has trained us that being drawn to other people like us is wrong, even in the non-racial sense. We are shamed for sticking together as the cultures that wish to enter our country remain absolutely inflexible in their own exclusive behavior.
Diversity is not the problem. The political expropriation of diversity is the problem.

Competence is. If "diversity" comes with that, then fine.

Your bio says you're a teacher, which I find to be the saddest fact of all.
Even sadder is that he thinks Thomas Jefferson actually wrote what he put in his signature.

Of course it's a good thing. But this ain't the best place to ask your question. You know- cultcha and all.

Diversity of thought is a good thing. Having the most competent people on your team, regardless of ethnicity or race or creed, is fine.
Quotas and forcing diversity into something is a recipe for disaster. Let diversity happen naturally.

All people should have their own place in this world. Somewhere they can call their own and preserve their culture.

It's the only cause. Problem is each generation down here in the south continues to pass on the same stupid shite over and over again. And it's not just blacks or just hispanics in the south , the whites are just as uneducated as the rest. And then they wonder why people from the north look down on them. Well because southerners are blind to the fact that the education levels in the south are pure garbage!
My old English teacher would have marked your whole paragraph in one color.....RED.

It's like every other word the left gets a hold of, it's become meaningless.

so it's only liberals? Unless of course conservatives are against diversity. No way that is true. Lol.

Like it's been said many times in here, forced diversity is the problem. If you force someone onto your team or work group they will feel like the outsider and you will see them as one. It's great to have a different perspective of things sometimes. For example an all male group having one female, men and women view situations differently and this can stop the group from ignoring a perspective, but let it happen naturally. If I have someone on my team it's because they have a specifically defined skill that I need, and they're the best for that job, doesn't matter if they're black, white, woman, whatever. THATS diversity, not what people call it now a days Forcing an outsider into a group they don't belong creates a lot of "them vs me" tension which causes the complete opposite of productivity. Politicians just like using the word diversity because it's a buzz word right now. Some people don't belong in certain positions just because of their race, religion, skin color. For example our community organizer of a president just because he's black, look how well that's working out for us now...

Did it sail a long, long time ago? I think in almost everything is IS a good thing. From the Kama Sutra to fresh ideas in a company meeting it CAN be good. Forcing it to happen in society is not good though. It is why we don't marry out of our own family.
Hi SB. Hope you are well.
