his style isn't for everyone
I find some of his stories/jokes to be funny and other stuff not funny
His more recent stuff that's a bit darker, is pretty funny. His jokes about his dead parents for example

Helloooo!!! I'm a Caarrrrrr!!! Still make me laugh. He was great in Waiting, but he should probably murder whoever agreed that focusing on Romantic Comedies was a good career move. I mean I can't blame him for taking the chance to hook up with Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, and Kate Hudson but those movies suck and he's not even a fit for them. Either play the vile comic or do supporting role stuff. Always like Dan in Real Life, thought he was decent in that as well.

Ahhh....
Dane Cook. The Nickleback of comedy. A man hated with frothy venom by everyone -- yet still sells out big venue shows with regularity.
He was amusing in the beginning, his shtick got a little tiresome and I moved on, but I respect that he cashed in on his meteoric rise. I guess he just might not have to work as much now since he made mad bank while he was popular.

I didn't mind him until he did that vicious circle special. So much recycled jokes...

I thought Employee of the Month was pretty funny.

Aziz ansari is the current popular comedian that I don't laugh at at all, and I'm a person that laughs at just about anything.

still a very successful stand up, but he's seen as sort of a failure because he's not headlining arenas anymore.

a better question is Is Carlos Mencia still alive.

Right now? Cook doesn't play arenas anymore. Mostly theaters. But at his height? I think Louis, Aziz, maybe Amy Schumer, maybe Chris Rock are playing/could play a venue like MSG/The Garden. Seinfeld could play a massive venue if he wanted to.

quote:I can recognize that he has a space in the comedy market... he goes too "big" for my taste. But the types of gutter trash that liked Jeff Dunham probably made him into a celebrity.
I'm not a fan of his, but the dude is super talented

i saw him love and he was hilarious. A bit dramatic and full of himself but still funny.
This is pretty funny if you don't see "love" as a typo.

Mr. Brooks is a great movie

quote:I think his comedy appeals more to a juvenile crowd. It is pretty basic and you can usually see the punchline coming from too far away. He isn't unique in that though. There are a lot of successful comics that are similar. I'm not a fan.
made me laugh my arse off when I was in high school.
I like smarter or witty comics or ones that have a unique style.

You're nuts if you don't think he's an extraordinary talent.
If that's the criteria, then the entire world save his mom and you are stark-raving mad lunatics.
quote:
He was the biggest comic in the world for a bit.
The only way this would be a true statement is if Cook had gained 812 lbs.
quote:
You don't have to like his jokes to this he's a very talented guy.
Read this statement over again to yourself. It really doesn't make sense. Maybe Cook is a ballet dancer extraordinaire and expert marksman? Then I'll admit he's a very talented guy. His self-chosen field was (allegedly?) comedy. He has not shown himself to be very talented at it, certainly not the "biggest". He and his agency were good at marketing. There's that.
No one did more with less talent than Cook.

He was on Walton & Johnson recently. I never liked his standup, but he was pretty funny.
