Me either. It's somewhat rare that I do.

You are dense
Unless the majority of the population is illegally carrying, statistics tell me that the percentage of legal concealed carriers is very low.

A recent study of 2015 survey data estimated that 9 million Americans carry at least once a month, while only 3 million do every day—about 1.2 percent of the American adult population.

from what, I believe is OPs point...Why are you so afraid of the world that you strap yourself 24/7
I fear cancer.
I don't fear other people.
Carrying a firearm is the ultimate "rather have & not need than need & not have."

IMHO, its still relative to the discussion pal..
Concealed and open carry are two separate arguments and represent different kinds of people.
Most open carry types aren't doing it for protection. It's a demonstration

I have a CHP but rarely carry. Strongly support it.
It shocks and annoys me how many people are clueless and scared of guns. If I mention to friends/family I have a permit they treat me like some kind of looney.
“Why on earth do you need a gun?”
Have you idiots watched the news lately?

I think the idea that more CC's equals more violence is a myth.
IMO the issue is more so responsibly carrying than carrying all together. But advocates here pitched a holy fit when they considered charging adults who left firearms unattended where a minor could injure themselves/someone else so I'm not sure where the happy medium on enforcing that would be at this point.

My typical response is "Because this is America and I can"

I feel that way about people who post that "if shite hits the fan, we'll wish he was there"...
Dan Bilzerian types like the guy in this thread

I carry because it makes me feel more capable of protecting my family and myself if something bad were to go down near me. As has been said better to have it and not need it...etc.
Some people that dont carry or believe in carrying act like people who do are just walking around waiting for something to happen. Granted, some probably are. I rarely even think about my guns unless I'm cleaning them or training. But I have been in places that most people would consider safe, public areas that other people have been in confrontations near me. I was completely comfortable while getting myself and/or my family away from because I knew what I was packing had the situation gotten any closer or escalated any further until we could get out. I've never even really come close to having to draw my weapon as it is the absolute last resort for me. I dont want to kill anyone, but will if needed.
It's not a perfect solution for or anything, but it does give me some peace of mind knowing I'm probably not going to be in any situation and be at a disadvantage.

Unless you don’t wear a seatbelt, lock your house, lock your car, own an umbrella, get a flu shot, but life/home/disability insurance, etc etc.

I carry at all times in my truck, and if anyone has a reason to daily concealed carry on his person it would be me. I don’t because I know most places I go there isn’t a significant risk, but if I’m in a bad area or in a big crowd I’m carrying, with or without a license.
I’m not pessimistic, I know how quickly things can turn sour.

I remember the absolute hysteria when TX legalized open carry without a permit. Everyone said the streets would be rivers of blood. Of course, none of that happened.

There are times to carry but most of the people I know that carry 24/7 just want to feel relevant. Gives them a sense of danger and importance I guess.
Had a friend who would carry going to the movies in Austin with our wives....like that's a dangerous outing.

Yes but only if you consider being prepared for the worst as accepting a pessimistic view of life/humanity.
The same applies to any kind of insurance you buy.
