I live in Jackson. I'd be crazy not to carry.

I carry on my person based on a reasonable threat analysis of where/when I’m going. Example, some places that I may not carry during the day, I will at night.

I “carry” in vehicle and briefcase 100% of the time.

That seems irrational, based on no research I'm still guessing you are much more likely to be harmed by someone trying to rob you than you are of being accidentally hit by a would be hero. I see murder stories every day, I don't really see many about bystanders being shot by a CC guy trying to stop a crime

I always carry, and I never had to use it until one night I was driving from Nola to Atlanta. I had to get gas at a station that was closed. It was a shitty exit off of I-20 and I was the only one there. A car full of guys pulled up and started giving me shite about my truck and asking me for money. Shut that shite down real quick when they realized I had a gun in the door of my car.

Of course you do it because you’re scared (by your logic).

Seriously, how do you not see your childish hypocrisy here? How do you not get it?

You don’t get to decide, based on nothing, why someone else does something to protect themselves and their property and then say that reason doesn’t apply to you the same way.

And you know this would be news everywhere in today’s media.

I fully understand why some are uneasy about the thought of carrying a loaded weapon. For many, it's "an unnatural act".
But consider this: It's a state-sanctioned activity. And it's also the state's way of telling you that at the end of the day, it is your own responsibility to protect yourself- not theirs- on an individual level. Instantaneous police protection isn't a realistic possibility....

was genuinely asking. 1.2 is a pretty small percentage.

That number is probably x4 or x5 in the south. In Alabama, 22% of the population has a CCL. In Louisiana, 6% of the population has a CCL.

According to a Pew survey, about 3/4 of permit holders carry most of the time.

Odds are pretty high that you cross paths with at least a few people carrying every day.

It’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

If I lived in Louisiana I'd probably carry. Even driving through such a third world shithole I try not to have to stop for gas.

Everyone goes through a time in life thinking they are indestructible. Well....we aren't. Your natural prime is fleeting, fellas....Yeah- it sucks.

There's nothing wrong with giving yourself every possible advantage over some creep whose life is such dog shite, he's willing to bring harm to you over your wallet.

Hell- I'd rather we all stick around to discuss the things we do. So protect yourselves however you must.

I hope nothing ever happens to you, but, if you were ever in a situation when you needed one immediately, you better hope a cop just happens to be driving by at that exact moment. Otherwise, you're stuck with whatever happens to you until you can call 911 and pray a cop can get to you within minutes.

This is highly doubtful for me, but I get what you're saying. And I'm not anti-CCL, although I'm sure I've come off that way. I just don't think it's necessary for most people, and I also don't trust the majority of people with guns.

I refuse to put the safety of myself and my family in the hands of responding officers who are at least a few minutes away. Even though the odds of ever needing it are slim, why would I just hope nothing ever happens to me or my family? That's not a prepared way to live life.

Do you also wear a riot helmet and a bullet proof vest everywhere you go? What if the perpetrator gets a jump on you and pulls his gun out first, you better be prepared.

I fly Delta several times a month and am yet to be shown the parachute...There is however a flotation device which fits your comment ironically, since I hardly ever fly over water

Every cop I know will not leave their home without at least one gun concealed somewhere on their body. They see the reality of the world and know that shite happens everywhere, regardless of how safe you "feel."

There are a ton of weapons being carried around you in public every day. Usually, the only one people know about is the one on a cop's belt.
