I told my sister when the time comes I want to be cremated, ashes placed in a nice urn and placed on top of her refrigerator.
She said it's not happening.

Ashes mixed into a a bowl of Wendy's chilli and served to my girl so I can tear that arse up one more time.

Most evangelical Christians are ok with cremation these days.

My parents are planning on going the cremation route. Of course I don't like the thought of both of my parents buring, but I also don't like the thought of them rotting in a box.

It's ok by most religions even the Catholics. The stipulation is no ash scattering.
If it weren't for that stipulation there is a company that loads your ashes into shotshells. I would want to be mixed with an Pune and a half of twos and taken to the duck blind one last time.

Well, if it makes things easier, consider my cousin the dentist experience in New Orleans in the 1970's. He took us all on a tour of the dental school one weekend when his parents and youngest brother came down to visit. My family lived in Metairie '73-'76 and his folks stayed at our house since he only had an apt. and a roomie. Anyway...
He and his roomie were lab partners at the UNO dental school. They took us into the autopsy lab and showed us what they were working on. The cadaver they shared was an old black woman who had died in the 1880's and had been pickled for research ever since. Pickling people wrinkles them up just as much as getting old does. Kinda reminded me of a Shar pei.

It's almost a financial burden to have a typical burial.
Side note rant:
I love how funeral home owners get rich off of someone's misery

I was once encouraged to go into the mortuary as a career by a coworker who had relatives in the business. He said it was a legal license to lie, cheat and steal from people who were in a vulnerable state.

Then you went to a shitty funeral home that was most likely part of a corporation that owns hundreds of funeral homes. We own (half partner) 3 funeral homes. The family always dictates what happens. No upselling whatsoever. The family gets what the family wants. Always find a locally owned funeral home to do your business with. The huge companies are all like you've described because they push their employees to act like that. Small business is the way to go anytime you're spending money regardless of what you're spending it on imo.
As for the OP , one of our funeral homes consistently does about 75% cremations , and the other two (one town over) so about 75% burial. I think , as others have said , it comes down to the area you're in and the population around you.

What does a "standard funeral" cost these days? About $8k-$10k? That's highway robbery.
If anything, I don't want a memorial service that is longer than a day (a few hrs). In other words, I don't want the whole wake thing then the next day the funeral, etc. Just burn me up and.. I really don't care what is done after that point. How much does it cost to cremate someone?

Not only do I want to be buried when I die, but I want my most beloved pets and family members euthanised and buried with me so that I won't be lonely in the afterlife.

Are you a reincarnated Pharaoh or Chinese Emperor by chance?
If so, here's to you being reincarnated as a warm blooded mammal and the rest of those buried with you reincarnated as biting flies

I want to be stuffed and mounted in my favorite chair, with a look of disdain on my face so future generations will know how disappointed I am in them.

We belong to a church and I'm all for cremation. It's just easier on the family. My soul is no longer in my body, so what's the point of it

My father passed away last month. I am his only child and generally the only family he had left who tried to be there for him. This was also the first time I had to step up and handle all of the business that comes with a death. I had him cremated and it ran me roughly 2 grand. Death certificates usually run $15-20, with a deduction after the first copy. The funeral industry is definitely shady in my opinion. They take thousands from people and make so much profit, and generally no one bats an eye. Luckily he was not an overly religious man, so he would understand why I did not want to go through the trouble of paying any more than I did.
In the beginning and in the end, we are all just stardust.
