It’s great! Business is booming, the amount of cranes dotting the Denver skyline is crazy. Everyday you read the news it’s 100+ jobs to this sector and 1000+ to that one. The politics aren’t worth melting over, very pro business here. Not a mask mandate to be had

most overrated but they have a good marketing department that dupes people into living there only to leave soon after

Ive lived living here vs Louisiana this past year.

Cost of living can be a bitch but its because people want to be here. It does depend on where you want to be. Front Range is expensive (well Springs and north). In the mountains is obviously costly, I had my inflation shock in January when I got here.

ETA: the people complaining about the politics either live in Boulder or are miserable people who spend way too much time obsessing about politics.

It's a beautiful state. Older Coloradans (meaning not the hippies in Denver) are good folks. They brew some outstanding beer there. Lots of outdoors stuff. I just don't like the suburban sprawl and lib stuff. You could do worse than Colorado though

I like living here. The weather is awesome. And skiing and hiking most weekends is pretty great.

1. Wildfire smoke sucks. Can’t leave the house for months without feeling asthmatic (not unique to Colorado though, this is a thing for every western state).

2. Super expensive to live here, but not as expensive as the coasts. You need to making around $200k (at least) to be ‘comfortable’ and own property if you’re just starting out, and I can’t even imagine what it’s like if one has children....

3. Definitely some uppity and unfriendly people live here. Seems in general less friendly than Texas is.

4. Homeless encampments dot the landscape, but the homeless aren’t as aggressive as Texas.

The politics here are fine. It’s blue but not so blue that it’ll drive you crazy. I could never live in Boulder though.

I’ve said for a while now that there are better places if you don’t like the outdoors. But if you like the outdoors, Utah, Colorado and the PNW are the only places you should be, IMO.

Son did undergrad and is finishing grad school in Colorado. There’s a lot to like, but Front Range traffic and housing cost are bad.

It’s nice but the people are pretty strange.

I was in Denver yesterday renting a big conference room for a customer event and some in the shared space was getting BLAZED and the whole place smelled like a skunk all day.

I was jealous but it also reeked.

If we're talking scenery, I'd take Utah over any of them. But they will probably be the last state in this part of the country to legalize weed...and that factors into where I want to live.

I get that it's a non factor for a lot of people.

Not really. No mandates anywhere around here and we were the first blue state to end lockdowns.

Utah IMO is extremely overrated scenery wise. Where are the trees? And southern Utah is completely jampacked with people. I’ll take CO and PNW over Utah any day. But to each their own.

You have to put lotion on daily to help with the aging. That’s the really bad part about living up here is you age much more quickly.

Wyoming is a fricking tundra. Couldn’t pay me to live there. Way different weather than Colorado.

Yeah, I don’t know much about fishing. I get that that’s what the outdoors is in the south. Fishing culture here is way more obscure. I’m more referring to camping and skiing.

I do see people fly fishing all the time though.
