How about reduce the tax burden on families to such a degree (at least -75%) so that a two income family isn't a necessity?

Have your wife stay home. Or you do it.

Cheaper than child care, cleaning service and going out to eat/picking up dinner 3-4 nights a week
Is it still cheaper if she gives up a job generating >250k a year?

Do people not realize that government subsidizing daycare in some form, whether through tax benefits or outright monetary subsidies, will just make daycare more expensive? Common sense...
Yes, I understand it. It’s already happening for certain segments of the population.

What about when you factor in the future earnings hit she’ll take when re-entering the workforce after a 5+ year hiatus? Beyond just current salary, opportunity cost is career growth

Are we going to subsidize the cost for this person? Is this the problem people are trying to solve here, how a person earning 250k can afford childcare?

A few have already said, couples need to quit chasing the “American dream”. Husbands work to provide. Work 2-3 jobs if needed. Moms stay home. Live below your means. It will work but everyone wants a $1500 iphone, $600 car note, travel ball for jr and starbucks

Estimate Based on Available Data
• If roughly 3.6 % of all workers earn = $250,000 and women are underrepresented at the highest earnings levels:
• The percentage of women earning = $250,000 is likely well below 3.6 % of all female workers.
• A rough estimate — based on the gender share of high earners — would place it around 1–2 % of women, but exact Census percentages by sex for the $250k+ category are not typically reported in headline summaries and require digging into the CPS PINC-11 tables.
Ah yes. The mythical unicorn. When discussing how to reduce childcare cost for the many, concern yourself with the isolated outlier who can afford an au pair

Got alot to say about this subject but not a lot to share.
We pay for 3. It was a massive bill until recently. $2100 to about $1300.
If you can't afford the kids, don't have them. We were recently blessed to not have to pay for 3 at one time but we were prepared to.
People don't think and plan is the problem.
Half the daycare now is on public assistance, which drives up pricing. We get nothing.
60% of daycare in LA I would estimate is subsidized by low income programs.

Make the cost tax deductible for the parents.
Think you can deduct $7500 now a year through dependent care.

The answer is to have mom at home to take care of the kids.
That's never ever discussed.
Everyone keeps repeating this like it's a magic pill.
Unless the mom is making <$30k per year, it's financially better for them to work.

Sounds like it doesn’t need to be subsidized then.

The question isn't how to subsidize daycare, it's how to reduce costs.
Those are 2 inherently different things.
Having astronomical daycare costs actually leads to it being subsidized by the Gov't, which then leads to even higher costs for everyone.

I was responding to someone saying mom staying home is cheaper than daycare. It isn’t in some cases.

owners of daycares don’t really make that much money,
Yeah no.
I have a client that owns two child care facilities. Each one has $2 million in annual revenue and $600k in profit per year.
Good child cares charge a lot because they can. Supply and demand.
There is a lot of cheaper child care options out there but they are sketchy at best and I would not be comfortable using them.
My youngest stopped child care about 10 years ago. I was paying $190/wk then. There were options as low as $105/wk but they were in bad areas, dirty, etc.
