re: Is Buc-ee's in Texas crowded like the one in Alabama?

The Alabama one is attractive because it’s a gas station where you won’t get killed and there are snacks beyond rap chips - it is the perfect recipe to round up everyone from Louisiana

I've been to Buc-ees a few times in Tejas and never caught severe anxiety like I did at the one in Alabama due to the 3 million people crammed into that place.

I went for the first time on my way to Florida and I don’t know if it was because it was a Saturday and everybody was going to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach but the crowds of people there was insane.
That one is always crowded compared to the ones I have been to in Texas. But it is exponentially worse from roughly Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Is it the same way at the Texas locations?
Not in my experience but the Bucees in Baytown is also more crowded than any others I have been to in Texas probably because of its proximity to I-10 in a heavily traveled area. Still faster in and out there, though.

Every time I’m at one it’s crazy packed but I grab my stuff and check out with little to no wait

We have been to several. The one in Bama is off the chain busy compared to Texas.
I will never stop there again. We stop at the one in Terrell all the time.

The only time I ever couldn't get gas was the one in Texas. Wife went in for restroom and they had a worker directing traffic. Worse I ever seen.

Wow not at all what I expected

The one in Temple was on Sunday. The parking lot was a zoo, my wife said the line for the ladies room was a 30 minute wait.

The Buc-ees in Alabama are located in Athens, Leeds, Auburn, and Robertsdale/ Loxley (the busiest/ craziest one).
There are no Buc-ees in Foley or Birmingham.

It’s not so much the size of the beach express location, it’s that they totally screwed up the parking lot ingress and egress.
Most of the Texas locations have feeder road access.
To get out of the parking lot you have to make a left turn across a country road that has traffic trying to turn in as well as thru traffic.
If you are headed west, you can use the backside exit and turn right and roll all the way down to Hwy 59 but you are then off the interstate for five miles.

If they ever build the Menge Rd location in MS, I wonder if it will help alleviate sone crowds at beach express location.

The very first one built in Leeds just outside Birmingham says hi…
The Loxley location was just poorly designed for the exit it’s at. Executives underestimated the amount of beach traffic and probably should have bought more land than they did. They had to build the parking lot just for the employees across the road shortly after opening. I come in from the west on CR-68 and enter in the back and can get out in about 15 minutes. Inside is usually fine except on weekends and peak summer. The new one Auburn is well designed for traffic. Football Saturday’s will be interesting to see how good it truly is.

I live 2.5 miles from that Buc-ee's. We avoid going there and also just going by it to get to our house from March-September weekends. Monday-Wednesday, it's not terrible. The gas is usually 20 cents cheaper or more but obviously not worth going Thursday-Sunday during spring break and summer months. 9/10 car tags are Louisiana or Texas.

quote:They would have to have built it north of I10 for it to be better. I agree, it's getting out that's an absolutely terrible design. Y'all might have missed it about a month ago but the light to turn left out of Buc-ee's to get to the interstate was not working right. It was seriously only allowing 2 cars to go through before it was red again. Stayed green for 3 seconds. I counted it as I was passing through. There were 15 cars in front of me and I watched the light cycle 5-6 times just to run the hell out of the light myself. I called Loxley PD to see if they could get some officers there to try and direct traffic to help but don't think they could or did without there being an accident

Yea loxley buccees entrance exit is weird. The exit can work fine if you are going home from the beach because you go can out to the right and go down a bit to hit the interstate.
