Is Adderall the new Opioid?

I know more and more people who are taking Adderall as a stimulant and to gain "focus", and it's not just college kids, it's people from all walks of life. Plenty of doctors are handing out scripts like they're candy. Some people are taking their own children's medication. There are side effects, and it is addictive. Will this follow a similar path as opioids, where doctors are eventually severely limited in prescribing Adderall and addicts turn to meth to keep their groove on?
Edit for clarification: I was speaking to the number of people who get on the stuff, and then turn to something illegal when they can't get it anymore. I understand the differences in what Adderall does vs. what Opioids do.

It is not close to as addictive IMO and if you do get addicted, it is far easier to get clean from it.
It certainly is addictive, but nothing like opioids.
I took adderall for 5 years and stopped cold turkey just fine. Someone taking vicodin every day for 5 years would be in hell if they did that.

It's closer to meth that Opiates. Totally different side effects. More females than males take it from what I see.

Within 6 months of starting I was on a 70mg vyvanse every morning, 15 mg addy IR every afternoon, and an extra 10 5mg IR addys for studying at night.
shite just didn’t work for me. The 70s would last about 4-5 hours. The 15 ir for about 2 and the 5mg didn’t do shite.

It’s not addictive. And have a lot of it and use it for all kinds of things. I can’t really take much for work though because it makes me a weirdo. It’s great for the gym though.

I take 20 mm xr everyday that I have work because I spend a lot of time in front of a PC. It does help me focus and as a bonus side effect, I can read better (dyslexia). I have no issues with not taking it on non-work days. I don’t find it addictive at all. Maybe it is different for people that use it recreationally.

Therapeutic doses of amphetamines don't kill people.
Some people's therapeutic dose of opioids would be lethal to someone who isn't tolerant of them. Even people who tolerate a dose then go without it for a short time can suffer respiratory depression if they go back to their old dose after a "drug holiday"

This is not at all a new thing. What you probably see is people who have taken it in the past, grow up.. And they still use it. I think there are people who are diagnosed with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder, which are people who maybe develop it as they get older. But for the most part, Adderall has been widely used for a quite a long time.

Don't worry the big pharmacy machine is right around the corner with the next greatest wonder pill that is totally safe and non habit forming for everyone ills.
Why do some people refuse to take accountability for their own actions? Why also do other people refuse to hold those people accountable and in fact enable those people to continue to make wrecks of their lives treating them as if they are victims of some conspiracy?
This country has created generations of perpetual children. Irresponsible children at that.

I've heard about people using Adderall with booze, but having never used that combination myself, I don't know what the effect is.

Stopping adderrall cold turkey does not make you feel like you are dying. It's much much easier to kick versus kicking opioids.
