If the Founding Fathers felt that way then we would be Britain's most prosperous territory to this date.

Only at the last fleeting moment for many. Many will try to save a child in the surf. I don’t know that they’ll do the same for an adult as they do have some understanding that the chances of success are much less without the right tools.

We are coded to survive. Its a good point that some of you may not like but its true.

Scientists did an experiment...put monkeys moms in a room with their babies...scientists turned the heat up on the floor...all the moms picked up there babies...when the floor got too hot they all put their babies down and stood on them.

We are not monkeys. We have a history of people who risk their lives for others. When teachers shield children from gunman while police coward from conflict, the problem isn’t human nature, it’s the cowards we have serving as police.

Exactly….

Thank god the men that came before us weren’t giant pussies too scared to put their lives on the line for something beyond themselves or their immediate families.

I am thankful for the members of our military who put themselves in harm's way every day knowing that they might not return.

If I'm paid and trained, for a living, to do just that....frick yes I'm going in

And I don't care what pussies like you think, any MAN who didn't try to go in there and save them, should turn in his badge immediately out of humiliation and weakness.

If you get involved in an altercation that has deadly force there is the possibility that you might be killed, effectively depriving your family of a father or husband for the benefit of a stranger. In that moment the stranger or strangers took precedent over your family.

Is it my job to intervene? And I wearing a bullet proof vest? Do I possess the legal authority to use deadly force in life threatening situations?

If it does, I 100% need to or else I should forfeit all my responsibilities and benefits that allow me to answer yes to the questions above.

That was not a real experiment. It was a story from a novel.

+1

There are lots of jobs that are hazardous. If you're an electrician you don't refuse to work on downed power lines because you may get shocked. You're trained to recognize the hazards and eliminate them. You have gear to protect you from the hazards you can't eliminate.

Imagine if firefighters had the same attitude. “Oh, well we went in and saw there were a bunch of women and kids in there but the fire was pretty hot so we retreated and let it burn for another hour or so.”

good point, let's dissolve our military forces, defund the police, and run like cowards from every threat.
