is a shed necessary for an RV?

i have mine exposed, i bought a cover for it after several years which i'd recommend doing immediately. The sun faded the paint previously where facing evening sun i didn't cover it. I don't have trees above it neither, that'd make it more dirty and harder to keep clean.

Cover it. Weather will start breaking down all the sealant. RV's flex a lot on the road and just sitting there and that in itself can cause leaks. Add the two together and a short time, you will have a leak.

a shed would be nice.
be careful of putting a canvas tarp over it because some will trap moisture and cause your roof to rust.

Makes a huge difference on how long the exterior holds up. I had a 18x40 shed with 14ft ceiling height installed when i bought my 5th wheel. Going on 7 years of ownership and it still looks pretty good.

it should be covered and right next to your driver's house, outside of view from the main house, of course

The sun dries out the sealant that is along the seals of the roof. Once the sealant looses its elasticity, going down the road bouncing and rocking causes the sealant to crack therefore the roof leaks.

How much $$ is your new RV and how long to you plan on keeping it?

Most neighborhoods with a HOA wont let you keep an RV at your home. You'll need to keep it at a storage place. Just choose one with a covered option.

Even if covered your roof will still weather and need to be re-sealed just not as quickly. Resealing a roof is fairley cheap compared to cost of a nice permanent shed structure

We bought one of these and it cost more than any of the other houses, besides ours, in the neighborhood, so the HOA can suck a dick.
