I have a different feeling about the flag. It was not meant to be a symbol of racism, it was meant to symbolize the south and southern heritage during the Civil War.

The flag he's using was barely used during the Civil War. It was resurrected by the Daughters of the Confederacy in the early 1900's and adopted by Southern segregationists around the same time. It's always been a symbol of racism.

When you google "what does the swastika represent" this is the first thing you get.

quote:

t was used by the Nazi Party to symbolize German nationalistic pride. To Jews and the enemies of Nazi Germany, it became a symbol of antisemitism and terror. In many Western countries, the swastika is viewed as a symbol of racial supremacism and intimidation because of its association with Nazism.

It once represented the north pole right? And before pre-WW2 it had several meanings.. But i doubt that's what the guy is wanting to represent.

If you are going to put it up, at least tell people exactly what you are representing. Don't hide behind the whole "they don't know their history" bullshite..

When you see the swastika what exactly do you see?

Whatever happened to, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" ?

I said it is his property, he has the right to do whatever he wants. I have felt the same way when Kaepernick was protesting by kneeling. It is their right to do these things. All I am saying is that at least own up to what you do. Don't put these symbols up and then hide behind "people dont know their history".

Again, it is his right to put it up.

Sounds like you don't know your history either.

The history of two racist organizations adopting those symbols?

Symbols are given meaning by people and the institutions who adopted these symbols changed how they are viewed by history.

Why do this?? Just fly the first national flag or the Bonnie Blue which is the actual first flag of the Confederacy.

This guy only wants attention.

no i fully recognize his right to expression. i don't think anybody should do anything to him because of it.

when you're an a-hole with those rights, you shouldn't expect the government to do anything about it, but people can choose to violate you because of it. i don't approve of it and i said i think they should be duly punished for that as well.

Kaep was doing it on someone else's property, in the time they are paying for, in their uniform. Not getting on toy about it. Just pointing out a difference here. Had Kaep done it all on his own time I would have said more power to him. I dknt have to like it but I agree with your right to do it
