I’ll bet he had the rifle on a sling in front and just dropped the shotgun to draw down on Maggs.

Probably a combination of things, there were so many details to cover and he did, almost, 1) not knowing about Paul’s Snapchat he thought his timeline and alibi was solid and wasn’t as careful, 2) maybe not as knowledgeable about the extent of info that can be obtained from phone data.
But probably mostly #1.
The two family guns thing is bizarre but I guess to support it being local rabble mad about the boat wreck. Maybe afraid of trying to get outside guns? Outside guns would have been much better IMO.

Randolph Sr was killed at a grade crossing

Interesting story behind that as the engineer claimed that his car was off the track, he was standing waving (in a friendly way) at the train and then got in and pulled the car in front of the i.e., a suicide by train.

So, I know the whole story on this case, but wasn't able to follow the trial.

Could somebody sum up the trial for me or point me to an article that does?

Thanks.

Randy Murdaugh, Alec's older brother, talks about his brother who he called a serial liar. He hasn't spoken to his brother in a year. He was hit up by Alec for a 75K loan just before the attack that was supposed to pay insurance to Bubba, and that loan remains unpaid. He is also deeply bothered by what didn't happen post murders. He said he was on the phone calling everyone he knew trying to get any lead he could on what happened, who killed his nephew and his sister-in-law. And Alec made no effort to contact anyone. Randy said he thinks Alec knows more.

I read that NYT article yesterday. I haven’t been able to get a good read on Randy because we haven’t heard much about or from him during the whole investigation and trial. I don’t know if anyone in that family is normal but he seems more normal than the others. He hasn’t completely bought in on Alex’s BS. Although we haven’t heard from Maggie’s family, I believe they share the same opinion as Randy.

The only thing I really question with Randy is what does he know about the murder of Stephen Smith. Smith’s mother in the HBO one claims that the next morning of Smith’s death, Randy popped up on the scene and offered to represent the family in the case. I just find that odd and I wonder what he knows and why did he try to get involved?

I just posted in another Murdaugh thread that while it may be unfair, I don't believe a word any of them say. Even his sister thought it was completely cool to just walk up to the defendant in a damn double murder trial and hand him a John Grisham novel. They all seem to think they are a little more than the other humans around them and I'm sure they're pissed their royalty status in that town has been ruined

Here are a couple of other pictures I took of the courthouse and main entrance of Moselle.

I didn’t get a picture of it but behind the courthouse is the street and entrance where they showed Alex getting in/out of the van.

Interesting note about the courthouse. The architect was Robert Mills. Mills was from South Carolina and designed several historic buildings in the state. However, his most famous design was the Washington Monument.

I don’t think many people trusted that family unless there was some connection. People feared that family for a century because of the power they had over that area. I’m sure that any trust people did have was completely erased by what AM did before, during, and after the murders. I wouldn’t say I trust Randy but I think it shows by his comments that small “circle of trust” has gaps in it. It sounds like he doesn’t want to be in that circle because he knows what kind of person Alex really is.

Well, sir, you owe it to yourself to go back and watch every riveting minute.

Star witness was a clairvoyant yellow Labrador named Bubba, that knew Alex's cruel and wicked intentions and tricked him into revealing his presence at the kennels on a Snapchat video by grabbing a chicken in his mouth and running all around with it, while Alex, clearly exasperated, repeatedly yelled, "Bubba!! C'mere Bubba!!" thus foiling Alex's airtight alibi.

Alex, being exposed by Bubba's clever plan for being a bold-faced liar, took the stand in his defense and in dramatic fashion-with lots of snot-dropping but not a single tear-admitted that yes, he had lied and lied and lied--about everything, but insisted the jury could absolutely, 100% totally believe him when he emphatically denied blowing Mags and Paw-Paw to smithereens.

The jury was not convinced, and now he's going to the slammer for life, no parole, where he will live like a king.

Re: Randy saying he was in court cleaning up AM's messes during some of AM's trial. And saying he doesn't know.... that AM is hiding something...

Call me jaded but Randy just seems to be trying to clean-up so he and his brother are respected to do business in that town w/o having to move?

After finally following the story. I say the whole family deserves to be dissolved and their wealth divested to those they screwed over.

Little kid killed that Girl in the boat wreck. Older kid likely killed the gay guy. Wife likely killed the housekeeper.
It's insane.

Alec isn't a smart man, just propped up by politics and money.

They made a tv show about this several years back. The blonde chick is who is needed for this bunch.

I have entertained the rumor that Randy Murdaugh may be involved in Stephen's murder.

Suicide?

Based on the statement from the train personnel, appears so.
