Cousin Eddie speaks out

His attorneys say he wasn't called as a witness because he had 'no knowledge' of the death.

'Murdaugh was the sole party responsible for the deaths of his wife and son.

'Mr Smith is a good and decent man who was, like so many others, manipulated and taken advantage of by Mr. Murdaugh, and we look forward to the opportunity to present his story at trial,' his lawyer Aimee Zmroczek said in a statement.

She added in a separate interview with NewsNation that Murdaugh never even paid Smith to shoot him, and that she believes Murdaugh planned to kill Smith and pin the murders on him.

'When Alex called him out to the road. … People always say he was paid.

'He wasn’t paid. He was doing what he always did, being manipulated by Alex.

'I think that Alex fully intended to shoot Eddie and make him the killer, and all of these problems would have gone away.'

While giving testimony, Alex admitted asking 'Cousin Eddie' to shoot him.

'I knew all this was coming to a head, I knew how humiliating it was going to be for my son (Buster). I had been through so much.'

Just curious...

Would you be willing to buy and live at a notorious home such as this one, knowing there was a double murder that garnered national attention?

No way. I wouldn't want any "famous" house - whether a murder took place there, it was used in a prominent movie/tv show, etc. Too many consistent spectators, not to mention the thought of where the two murders took place would always be on your mind when you were in that general vicinity.

What's Hampton like in the state of SC? It's my understanding that Charleston is the "crown jewel" of South Carolina, especially culturally and socially. Greenville is nice too, but that's upstate, and I'm not sure how it's perceived. Also, I understand Columbia to be well...like Jackon, MS, Montgomery, AL, or Baton Rouge, LA more or less...nothing to brag about.

Hampton is closer to Savannah than it is Charleston, it's pushing two hours away from Charleston. It's also basically in Georgia.

So, that said, what's it perceived like in the state? Country? Redneck? Lowcountry elite?

Basically, what I'm getting at, is I'm trying to find out how are they truthfully perceived in the state? Are they really this upper-crust hoity-toity family as they are made about to be, or do the people in Charleston, Greenville, etc. view them as hicks and big fish in a small pond?

That's what I was wondering after the stuff I've watched in the last week. They seemed like big fish in a little pond. It's not like they ran Charleston or had a family full of senators and congressmen, it was basically a long lineage of DAs and then the private firm in town. They didn't seem any different than any number of hotshot small town families. When I first started following all this people were acting like they ran the whole state

Yeah, they’re nouveau riche. He’s loud and crass.

I seriously doubt that Charleston society would give them the time of day.

Doesn't this also apply to underage drinking in homes? The Murdaugh’s were the 'cool' parents

I really think that their partying with the kids’ friends was his way of drawing more and more people into his circle.
These would be people he could later manipulate when he thought that they could help him.
The man is truly cunning.

It had an eerie feel to it. When they say it is in the middle of nowhere, they are not lying. Driving by the kennel entrance, you can see part of the shed and a small part of the kennels. One thing I didn’t realize was the main entrance and kennel entrance was only 50 yards or so apart. Moselle Road wasn’t extremely rough. It felt narrow in several places. Definitely didn’t feel like a road where you could drive 70-80 MPH especially at night. Went by the area where Maggie’s phone was thrown. I drove 40-42 MPH through there just like it said in the testimonies. Overall, just a weird and eerie feeling seeing the area.

It was testified during trial that it was paved after the murders. So it was pretty rough on the night of the murders in addition to being dark and narrow.

Does anyone else think the evidence is too circumstantial? Wears the guns used in the murders? Where is the actual proof murdered his wife and son? I keep waiting to hear concrete proof...

He was at the murder scene at the time of the murders.
Supporting evidence: He lied about being at the murder scene at the time of the murders. The murders were committed with guns likely owned by the Murdaugh's.

Shell casings are the exact same as in the house.. Two guns missing from collection, a rifle and a shotgun.... His truck slowed down on Onstar at the exact place where Maggie's phone was thrown out... Which I believe he took because she was running and screaming his name until shot in leg and hip, and he was afraid she taped it somehow before he finished her off with a kill shot to the crown of the head. He had to dump it, but not Paul's, because Paul never saw it coming.

Hearing Alex's voice on the Paul video is so haunting knowing that in a few minutes that voice was planning to blow the heads off the other 2 voices the whole time he's innocently playing with "Bubba"

Why was the video recorded in the first place?

Paul was keeping a friend's dog at the kennel and took the video to show him something wrong with the tail

And the friend asked for a video that he could show to a veterinarian to see if it needed additional care. Paul caem across as a good, caring friend and the dog was so happy that getting a picture of a wagging tail took tims. Meanwhile in the background, Maggie and Alex were trying to get the golden lab Bubba to drop the chicken it had in its mouth. Bubba was ignoring their commands and they were clearly heard.

It took a while to get into Paul's phone (until a pro got in and got the videao and shortly thereafter the total stop of Paul who people said was always on his phone..

Hope all the doctors out there are happy with the state of our country with these drugs you so willingly and blindly gave out like candy.

What doctors are these? Be specific. Names and locations.

I’m just curious.

Outside of pill mills this isn't the case at all. I had 9 broken ribs once and it was almost impossible to get a refill and soon to be one myself, I've met with a lot of organ transplant people who get sent home with Tylenol.

Yeah it’s not easy to get opioids anymore. Maybe in the past. I had back surgery last year and was sent home with fricking Motrin. Like look people, I just had surgery so I’m clearly not faking anything to get pills. Get me some modern painkiller.

Yes, as in they’re not old money like Charleston money, and lived a pretty tacky lifestyle-the man was doing shots with his kids’ friends.
