My family and I are considering moving in the next 1-2 years, we have been looking at the Woodstock area. Can anyone tell me about this area or other towns/suburbs nearby, it would be much appreciated! Not really looking to spend more than 250k on a home but looking for somewhere that’s safe and has things to do.

I sure can. I live in the Canton/Ball Ground area which is about 10 miles north of Woodstock. There is lots of traffic but downtown Woodstock is nice. Cherokee County is a great county. You can find a house for $250k. I guess it depends on what area you want and how big of a house. I do know that Canton is growing tremendously. What area of Atlanta do you plan on working? It really depends on that also.

I've heard they have some pretty good concerts there, but better bring some extra deodorant and cologne. I hear the people there are dirty and stinky. Maybe an extra razor too.

I spent time in the mountains of daholnega. You don’t want to hear my experience, it was terrible.

Enroll your child in banjo lessons as soon as you get here. Don't wear any high falutin name brand clothing and be willing to ditch the dentist when you get here as we don't have many of them around.

There are some special kinds of redneck hillbillies up there. Some beautiful country, but we stopped camping in the Nimblewill area because it is often overrun w methy looking trash.

Kennesaw, Cartersville, or Ackworth are all solid.

Extremely flexible on where as I work from home, Canton is one of the other places I’ve been looking at a lot, do you prefer it over Woodstock? I’ve also been looking at Suwannee, Sugar Hill ,and Buford. I appreciate the reply!

I also work from home. Well it really depends. I wouldn't say I prefer it but the entire I-575 is good. You can't go wrong with Kennesaw, Woodstock, Canton or Ball Ground. Woodstock is great. There are lots of areas in the Atlanta Metro that would fit you. Check out Cherokee County.

Not a fan of Buford. I’d stick to Cherokee county or Cartersville if you want to be north of Atlanta. More affordable and good schools.

Well, I happen to currently be a resident of Woodstock, but I'm moving back to Atlanta soon. IMO, Woodstock is just about perfect if you're young and have a family. The schools are good, Downtown Woodstock has exploded with good bars and restaurants and Reformation Brewing is also down there. You're also right by Lake Allatoona and the Victoria/Little River marinas, which is where Netflix films Ozark.

If you're a golfer, there are plenty of solid courses. Housing prices have started to get higher than all of the surrounding areas, so if you're looking for anything less than 250k, it's going to be in a trashy neighborhood closer to the Acworth side of town. You're probably better off looking at the Riverstone area in Canton for that price. It's a good thing you work from home because the 575/75 split area has some of the worst traffic in the Atlanta area.

I would definitely stick to near a highway. off hwy traffic in ATL will cost you time to go anywhere.

575 or 400. if 400 south forsyth is probably great. Halcyon will open in the year. its like Avalon in Alpharetta

I can attest and agree with everything Red Pants said. Also if you love beer Reformation Brewery beer is awesome! If you need a mortgage broker/realtor let me know as me and my wife just purchased a house.
