Had a guy on the travel board that had taken his family to India and left like day 2 he said the guys were staring at his wife and daughter and even had few attempted gropes. He said even with a English speaking guide and the guide taking around to the supposed safe area he just didn't feel safe. Next day THEY GONE

From what I understand, that is VERY common. People leave several days early extremely often

Never thought about it that way, just love the food and everyone you meet here seems nice, but the images of people there bathing in toxic polluted rivers did make me wonder.

I am aiming to see about 70% of the countries of the World in my lifetime.

If you haven't seen India then your 70% achievement will be pretty lame, IMO. I've traveled India and worked in Pakistan and I can't imagine giving those experiences up. Not true for the majority of countries I've been to, most are not all that different. India is something that needs to be experienced.

As much as I love traveling, especially overseas, India is one of the very few countries I 100% have zero interest in visiting.

I’m sure it has its upsides. All the Indian people I know in the US love going back to visit India.

I spent over two weeks there on a trip, in May, our Indian friend completely paid for, from airline tickets, hotels, meals, everything. I am grateful that my husband and I experienced it, but the pollution was awful, there were 33M people in Delhi alone and we traveled with a hired Uber driver who I am pretty sure got paid 50 rupees to drive us all over the country for a week.

The Taj was cool, monkeys everywhere, cows walking down the city streets, camels, great food, but it was overwhelming. The traffic is like the Daytona 500, same speed, but 100,000 more cars.

Very cheap country (yes, I finally got money out of an ATM at an ashram we stayed at on the Ganges, much to the chagrin of our host), long flight, stay in London on the way back, even if just for a night.

Lastly, the people were very kind. We were the only white people I saw the entire time. People wanted to touch us, take pictures with us. Our friend spends about 50/50% in India/US. His wife is wealthy and came here and missed having a chef, driver, etc. He is more US patriotic than most Americans, is a US citizen and made sure his daughter was, as well. And, yes, he's a coder

One of the Countries in the world I have no desire to see.

I love traveling and will travel almost anywhere but I agree. To me the whole region of India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Mount Everest I just have no interest in. I enjoy hiking but even with Everest it's overrated, too commercialized and has been thoroughly trashed. Not worth the money from what I've seen.

The fact that India thinks they need to grow quicker tells me how they view human life. That country needs a population decrease, not even more people.

CSB, you do you. I don’t pretend to tell anyone to pick up sailing or woodworking or playing the banjo. I’ll be just fine without ever going there.

fun fact: india’s population in 1950 was roughly the same as US population today

so within the lifetime of some of the elder posters on this forum, it has increased some 420%

Do you kama sutra bro?

In seriousness, when I've been there it's crazy.

Children mob you looking for $$.
Driving is terrifying. They tailgate, speed and honk non stop.

Some food was good.

Parts of Mumbai are beautiful.
