MN, AZ, CA, PA, VA, and maybe a couple of others. Obstruction of vision is the stated reasoning but the real reason is likely for pretext stops. VA just legislated out the pretext stop use.

But how will they ever stop you for possessing the reefer without the pretext? I suppose they can stop you for listening to the Jazz really loudly.

I used to have a 55" flatscreen tv on my dashboard with full home entertainment system resting on the front seat and surround sound throughout, but they shut me down and I still don't know why.

Outside of CA both the legislative bodies in the remaining states when the law was passed were likely to have been under R control.

Yea sure. Because the Democrats have done so much to improve the lot and lives of the black man and families over the last say 50 years.. Gotta be the Republicans keeping them down... How long can people be hoed out without realizing who's pimpin who? Definition of insanity.

I decided to look around. These laws predate your perception of current partisan makeups.

The Minnesota law goes back to 1940:

So they can stop you.

Same with that little frame your dealer puts around your license plate advertising his dealership.

It obscures your license plate and they can use that to stop you in most states.

Actually most states have the law, not all enforce it.

2011 Louisiana Laws
Revised Statutes
TITLE 32 — Motor vehicles and traffic regulation
RS 32:282 — Obstruction to driver's view or driving mechanism

Universal Citation: LA Rev Stat § 32:282
§282. Obstruction to driver's view or driving mechanism

A. No person shall drive a vehicle when it is so loaded, or when there are in the front seat such a number of persons, exceeding three, as to obstruct the view of the driver to the front sides or rear of the vehicle or as to interfere with the driver's control over the driving mechanism of the vehicle.

B. No passenger in a vehicle shall ride in such a position as to interfere with the view of the driver to the front, sides or rear of the vehicle or to interfere with his control over the driving mechanism of the vehicle.

C. No person shall drive any vehicle with any nontransparent material upon the windshield, side wings, side or rear windows, other than a certificate or other paper required to be so displayed by law, or permitted by regulation of the secretary of public safety.

Handicap tags;
"other than a certificate or other paper required to be so displayed by law, or permitted by regulation of the secretary of public safety"

Parking passes;
The hanging should be designed and labeled so they are to be used while parked (and removed during vehicle operation). The sticker type are likely state approved (maybe a grey area??)

Don't write or keep laws you don't want enforced.
