I don’t know the screening requirements for sperm donation but I’d imagine health history is largely self reported. No telling what you get. It may be a 6 foot 2 dude that runs a 4.5. But he may have a gene for cancer or lifelong depression

If you and your wife were both carriers for cystic fibrosis, you could use IVF to test the embryos and select one without the disease. That can be done for many, many diseases. If this bothers you so much that you are considering using someone else’s sperm, you should at least find out the name of the eye disease and determine if it can be screened out.

I remember years ago seeing a picture of nba player Michael Owolakandi with his parents when he was drafted. He is 7’0 tall while his parents both appeared to be south of 6’0. Not all issues your family has is going to affect your child. Even if they do breakthroughs in science and medicine are constantly minimizing the negative effects.
