Went to the produce auction and an Amish store to buy some stuff east of Hopkinsville. Fairview Produce Auction. It’s across the highway from this place
Couple facts. The statue stood in the capital rotunda in Frankfort for decades until our current governor had it moved to Fairview. It is the birthplace of Jefferson Davis. Fairview sits on the Christian/Todd County line off US 68. The monument is under renovation but the museum is open. A lot of different flags hanging up including a couple Kentucky themed confederate flags that flew in battle.
Other than that, here’s some things Dad is going to plant

I'm shocked his statue and monument are still up with those clowns running around tearing them down

How is that statue still intact? I'm shocked that the plants can even grow around that monstrosity!

Fun Fact:
Jefferson Davis & Abraham Lincoln were born less than a year apart and less than 100 miles apart in Kentucky.

Wait until June. You will see pallets stacked three high with crates of seedless and seed watermelons, red tomatoes large and xl, cantaloupes, and every other vegetable. They bring oranges up from Florida to sell

It's crazy how haunted both Lincolns and Davis' lives were - full of unhappiness and death of children. Both good men.

I've got a couple good friends here in Denver that are from Hoptown and Mayfield, KY. They both went to Murray State, but are big UK fans. I'm sure that's a regular occurrence in those parts.

I visited it about 2 yrs ago. Nice pit stop on the way out to the far reaches of Western KY. We also went to Ft Donelson across the state line in Tennessee down by Land Between the Lakes.

Also a fun fact, Lincoln left the state when he was 7 and never returned. Considered himself to be from Illinois. Davis left when he was 2, returned to the state early on to go to transylvania in Lexington. Lincoln acted like he was a Kentucky lover come war time. But, he was a carpetbagger.
