Why do you think this may be? I'll give you a hint, it's caused by government.
Really? I had no idea section 8 was a government program. If you are going to call me stupid just do it, though given you felt the need to move the goal post in order to refute my argument earlier I have no idea what that would say about your intellect.

Actually it's zoning laws and regulations, along with permit processes that make housing so damn expensive.
We could go back to building affordable housing like we had in the 50's if we had the same zoning and regulations we had in the 50's.

I don't know a single person over the age of 20 who makes less (($15/hr)). Hell, I believe the McDonalds locally pays that or close to it.
That's cool. Since that is the case there should be no resistance to moving the minimum wage to $13 and hour, it would not impact businesses at all.

That makes no sense. Why raise the min wage when it's not necessary?

What's the economic downside to raising the minimum wage? Lets say nationally to $15/hour.

Someone making minimum wage can go buy a half acre lot for $20k and put a $10k camper on it for bout $350 per month.
This would allow them to save the extra money from rent while they are building equity on the property. Paying rent does not help them.
I get what you're saying, but that requires less-than-horrific credit and a downpayment.
These adults making minimum wage surely don't have either.

Wrong!!!
Even rent in North Baton Rouge around that price or higher...

I'd like to know where you can buy a half acre lot for 20K
Surely not anywhere I've lived
Not to mention people on minimum wage probably can't even afford the lot and camper (or get qualified for the loan for that matter)

I was paying close to that for a 1 bedroom in LP

In your scenario, it would make zero difference so why would you be opposed to it? The bottom line it would make a difference since ~30% of wage earners are well below $15.

You have consistently argued these workers are almost non-existent so within your argument of facts the economic downside would be virtually nil.

I don't know a single adult that makes less than $15.00. None of the blue collar people I know. Certainly none of the white collar. Now many people may end up reporting less than $15/hr on their taxes, but that's not my business.
So you should have no problem moving the minimum wage to $15 since nobody actually makes less than that?

Way to avoid answering. I'll tell you. Employers purchase less labor. They'll automate.

Then you should be able to afford to live on minimum wage if you get a roommate.

I may make minimum wage but I identify as middle class, I can't be living in no poor people apartments.
