You sure???... I think some jobs scale your pay a certain amount above minimum wage... I could be wrong .. but I think some state and federal salaries go up too

I’m not sure what you’re saying. I’ve lived one place where rent was close to that, and that was basically on LSU campus in a very nice apartment.
In BFE, rent doesn’t cost nearly that much for a 2-bed apartment. I also rented a 2-bed house in Ruston next door to campus at 500/month.
I have no idea where you people are renting from, but none of my experiences have lead me to such high costing apartments, and yet where I’ve rented have all been in good neighborhoods and of good quality, too.
