This has happened to plenty of far left activists who move to New Orleans to save the world. They move here to march in idiotic marches and/or get their Sociology degrees at Loyola. Then, the girlfriend gets robbed, beaten or sexually assaulted (maybe all three) by a man from the 'hood. Then they somehow blame Republicans and move back to New Hampshire or some other expensive community in the Northeast. They then change their mind privately about crime, but keep that change low key publicly so they can still pass the left wing purity tests in their friend circles.
