re: In 2025, you will need to show bank statements to visit Brazil

Brazil is one of the hardest countries to visit from the US. They make it intentionally hard for us to visit because they feel like we make it hard for them to come here.
I went twice, both times for the Brazilian GP and it was the biggest PITA of any country I have visited. When Michael Schumacher announced his retirement and it looked like he would win his 8th WDC I tried my level best to get down there to see the race and couldn't get a visa in time.

Oh, Canada. They already knew in Winnipeg where my retirement accounts where held, before they pulled every American out for additional screening. And not ten minutes of additional screening, hours of it.
And if you want to know what I had to upload to get into Australia, let me know.

What’d you have to upload?

I only want to visit Scotland/Ireland and some parts of England. After that I’m good.

It only took about three weeks, because I got arrested for minor shite in my 20s. One of the requirements, since I'd been arrested, was a police report clearing me of wrong doing from ever country I've ever visited since I was 17. I managed to skirt that by uploading a word doc being the sarcastic arse I actually am. I didn't qualify for an e-Visa, because I went to college and fricked around alot. So, extended vetting!
They also wanted an FBI report on me.
What I uploaded (outside of identity docs, statements of financial responsibility, etc,)
quote:
Since turning 17, I’ve been to at least 14 different countries outside of the USA. By the letter of the requirement, I have to provide a penal clearance from all of them. Is this an accurate reading of what you need? I’m supposed to travel for business to Melbourne in 7 days. Even the US FBI won’t return an Identity History summary check in time, let alone the rest of the countries.
Canada was worse on the spot. Australia was worse before landing. I had to reschedule my flight to Melbourne twice because I didn't get a visa for over two weeks. Hence, less than 72 hours on the ground. After 54 hours in the air, not including layovers. It was awesome.

Lol. US immigration should be closer to this than open borders.

When they pulled the Americans out of line in Canada to inspect their baggage, they told me where my 401(k) was, asked me about when I'd been arrested in 199x, I didn't have to tell them. That was creepy (the Winterpeg immigration experience was almost four hours). I went through a 10m process transiting through Toronto on the way to the EU, where I got more shite than would be expected in Istanbul, or an EU airport. I wasn't coming into your country, idiots.
During the Ebola scare, Japan asked you that if you had a fever, to divert to a health check station. Nobody else asked shite. I got asked more questions getting out of Israel than I did getting in to any country but CA and AUS.
I agree with you, but in the West that ship is almost out of port.

That’s a shame. I went fishing there last year for peacock bass. I thought the citizens were very nice to this ole country boy who didn’t speak Portuguese. Beautiful scenery.
Just shows you that government is why you can’t have nice things.

My wife holds a Canadian bank acct. that has a little less than $100k in US value. We get asked at tax time every year if we hold over $100k in a foreign acct. This year they ask that, and aboot $10k. Above $10k now needs a special form filed.
If the Canucks and US are sharing each other's citizen's bank information, why is filing this form necessary? Just another piece of red tape.

I don’t know if i believe all that.
One thing countries love is tourism dollars.

There are fewer places today that are safer for Americans than just a few years ago. I wonder why?

India is complete online and has been since COVID. Their eVisa system had my last trip approved in less than 48 hrs, and in truth you don’t even need to do that if you are willing to do a same day visa application at the port of entry….
Brazil is becoming a pain in the arse, but India is pretty damn simple.

India was an awesome trip. Great food. Everything was inexpensive. Friendly people.

I went in 2013... different time, different world.
I vaguely recall the questionnaire having a lot of questions (understandably) about Pakistan, but I like to joke it starts off with "Have you ever been to Pakistan?" and by question 10 about Pakistan it's "Do you like Pakistani food? You ever had a positive thing to say about the place?"

I'll be honest, I have never had an interest at all to ever visit anywhere in South America.

Oh, Canada.
About 15 years ago I was almost thrown out of Canada, deported I guess. I had words with the guy at Canuck customs that was “interrogating” me. He threatened to ban me and deport me right back to the US. I said, hey, you’d be doing me a favor.

Even Steve Gleason visited Machu Picchu.
Argentina seems like a good spot. It's probably in my next 5 major trips. No major timezone shift is a plus.
