And they’ll move and frick up the next state with their politics and their vote.

Would be interesting to see this as a % of the county's population. I bet that ~2,400 people lost near Cairo, IL (very SW corner) is a huge chunk of that county. Worst speed trap I've driven through. Literally ~30 miles where a cop car is every few miles every time you go through on I-57.

Chicago Democrats are killing that city and the state.

Still fantastic deer hunting.

Pretty much an exact match to the election results.

The Empire State's population fell by 126,355 people between July 2019 and July 2020, to 19.3 million, a drop of 0.65%, according to the preliminary figures. That's the most of any state by total and by percentage.
Population decline continues to be a problem for New York, and it could play out in 2022 during federal reapportionment. At this rate, New York could lose as many as two U.S. House seats; it will certainly lose one, dropping it from 27 to 26 seats and impacting its clout in Washington.

California, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio all lost population last year. Exodus is to Texas and Florida it appears.

New York has had an exodus over the past decade of about 1.4 million people, and about 21% of them went to Florida, by far the most of any other state, data last year showed.

This isn’t anything new either. I’m surprised Pennsylvania didn’t make the list.

Lol. Bruh, outside of Chicago and the other major metro areas just like the rest of the country Illinois is red as anywhere. So anyone that moved is likely republican. Look at the map. Chicago population is increasing and the rest of the state decreasing.
Just because a state leans democrat doesn’t mean everyone that lives there voted Democrat.

This is the reason that rust belt football can no longer compete on the national level as our factories closed the population was forced elsewhere.
My parents hometown had 100k in 1950 after steel died it was about 35k in the year 2000

I think AbutheMonkey and Chitown Badger on here, who comes across pretty successful, have said it's getting almost impossible to deal with.
I have a buddy who is an actuary in Chicago. One of the brightest, most happy go lucky guys I know, and the pandemic seems to have killed him mentally/emotionally. I think he wants out.
When bright, successful people like this want to leave what is a great city 6-9 months of the year, that is trouble.
I'm surprised at the exodus in those outer counties, though. I would think there are some affordable, hot spots out there. The state as a whole can't be that bad.

Everyone laughs at IL but doesn’t want to see that the state is GA in 20 years due to Atlanta.
Outside of Chicago that state is full of people who would fit in fine in the south.

In 5 years we will see stats about everyone moving back to these cities/states.

Large population centers are killing the rest of the state with bullshite politics. Then the population centers can no longer support their own growth so it starts to kill itself. Plays out in every state mentioned.

Nah, it ranked third of all cities in population loss over the past few years. I don't know about this year, but Chicago lost population 4 year straight from 2016-2019.
