I've never been skiing and never had any desire.
I have the type of personality that when I find something I enjoy, I want to do it all the time. Living in South Louisiana, it would be hard to make that happen if I loved skiing.

For a family of 4 it’s easily 8-10k when you include air and lodging, gear, clothes, food and alcohol and lift tickets.
Ridiculous
most really nice vacations are about that much. but it can be done much cheaper than that.
despite what many in south LA think though...there are some families that can afford that and its not bragging or flaunting nor is it a shot at someone when its posted on facebook either.

Was that on purpose, or was he just really bad at it?

It’s different . Water skiing you are more on your heels. Snow skiing is more the balls of your feet
Took my son and daughter for the first time when they were 11 and six My daughter at six was blowing down the mountain like she was born on skis. My wife was constantly telling me “ please tell her to slow down “

Poors don’t have skinning skills out accommodations! Pizza does work but you need to use a little edge. It’s not for you that’s ok. One question how big a boy are ya? I noticed fatties don’t enjoy skiing!

Sounds like you just suck at it

Those who don’t like snow skiing suck at snow skiing.
No big surprise.

I was born and raised in Louisiana and when I finally got on a mountain and locked into skis and pointed them down the hill, I begin skiing without lessons.
I’m a really decent intermediate skier and I’ve never had a lesson once you learn how to ski it is actually quite easy And not physically taxing more than any other athletic endeavor. However, if you struggle, it can be a nightmare because I have witnessed it firsthand.
People like you who go out there and have a dim Outlook of skiing. I can tell you that if you are a person who gets on the mountain And all you can do is complain about how cold you are then you have no business being on a mountain in the winter.
I was born to ski and I love it. I have a ski trip planned for me when I’m 85.
I’m going to make it.

huh? because i said if someone post pictures on social media that its not to taunt those that cant afford those types of trips?
or because despite what some in south like to think...some people can afford big trips
just trying to understand how saying...hey not everything that is posted on social media is a swipe at someone
i dont even post pictures and other things from a lot of things we do for this very reason, people get mad and take it as bragging.

Skiing is fun as shite, it has just gotten prohibitively expensive. For the same price as skiing for 1 week, I can bring the family to Europe for 2 weeks and do it right.
It wasn't always like that. The resorts have started squeezing every dime they can out of it. Growing up my parents brought us at least once a year and my dad said it was a very affordable family vacation. Entire family could get a weeklong lift ticket for $200 (unlimited for 7 of us). Rentals were shitty, but cheap, etc.
ETA:
We usually did Beaver Creek, but rotated to others like Steamboat, Vail, etc.

Just booked our trip a few months ago in park city
Family of 5 for 5 day trip
Flight tickets:
$2,200
Lodging
$3,900
Lift tickets
$1,056
Rental skis
$400
Rental car
$684
So total spent is $8,240 before any food/drink/other entertainment cost
It’s kinda out of control. We took a family trip to Europe last year for 10 days that will likely cost the same

Like golf, it has its moments.
But for me and the vast majority, those are super rare. Most just don't want to admit it.

Nice. Love Big Mountain (I still refuse to call it “Whitefish,” but I also love Whitefish the town). Our friends (our boys’ friends especially) just moved back up there from Missoula so we plan to take them there in Feb. great pics! I like the mountain even when socked in by inversion clouds but man that was a gorgeous day.
Whitefish Mardi Gras is fun too.

Funny post. It's not your thing. I don't like Bingo, but I love Bridge. Skiing and snowboarding is a blast for me. I know when and where to go to avoid lines.
Pro tip: Park City during the Sundance Film Festival is sparse. And if you can do expert terrain 9990 lift is never crowded (but don't try to pizza, lol).
