Stop being a judgemental prick. We got married in the back garden of a bed and breakfast. Us, the pastor and two witnesses. Are we less married or sanctified because we didn't pay for a huge wedding?

So if plantations are so much hurtful to black people how come so many of them are employed by the plantation owners?
Same scenario as slavery days but now they get paid...come on!

Right. But a wedding in a strip mall church would somehow be more dignified.

If I ever get married, I have no intentions of getting married at a church. Something like an antebellum home or some other beautiful venue or destination, sure. Not a church and probably not by a pastor.

My white brother in law married his black wife last October on a plantation in Charleston and she's the one who chose the venue. I can't wait to tell them how racist they are at Christmas dinner.

That would have been a bad divorce.

Woke people are painfully stupid at times.

No one wants to say it but all they are trying to do is take away everything from white people

Meh I get the appeal to marry on a plantation because most of them are beautiful but always found it odd. I couldn’t personally do it because i respect history & what happened on those grounds.

LOL. frick it. It's all in the eyes of the beholder.

I see plantation homes as historic, beautiful, romantic settings. If you're mind is demented, and you think of it as something horrible - frick it and frick you. I don't care. Odds are, if you don't feel the same as me, then you're probably not invited to my event there anyway. So, it's a moot point.

Live and let live. You worry about your 4 corners and I'll worry about mine.

I think this what people refer to as white privilege

It’s ok to love the look of plantations but still respect what happened there. It wasn’t all beautiful by any means.

wasn't all violence and abuse either, ironically though, middle part of La was known as having some of the most violent and abusive slave owners of that era

In my world, I don't care about "what people refer to as white privilege". I care about a lot of things - especially abused or neglected animals. But white privilege, racist this - racist that....nah man, that over-used bullshite will never make my list on things to care about.
