I did. How would you feel about hosting weddings there?

Is this a discussion about Pearl Harbor and Omaha Beach?

No but it’s comparable to the subject. The majority of people wouldn’t even think to host a wedding at either of those place. Why is a plantation different?

Just because it’s not YOUR history doesn’t mean it’s not someone else’s.

I see nothing romantic about gettin married under oak trees that once had dead bodies hanging from it.

You are also assuming this. Not every single tree on a plantation was used to hang slaves.

If you don't want to get married there, don't. But why do you care where someone else gets married?

You don't speak for the majority of people. You also know nothing of my history. You have the choice of not getting married at a plantation. If your white guilt shames you that much, don't do it.

I don’t.

But I also see no problem with wedding sites opting not to promote plantations as a venue. Which is what this topic is about, or initially what it was about.

plus, we'd never do that in the front yard, that's just trashy!

And those same wedding sites will 100% still have weddings at plantations if their clients want that.

A nonsense response. Be an adult and contribute in an adult manner. Clearly you feel guilty in some way by events of the past. Did your ancestors run a plantation and now it's eating away at you on the inside?

Using the catholic church as your prime example of "Things can be beautiful and have a horrible history" really says it all. The pedophilia is the 800 pound elephant in the room. But the list is much longer than that.

Not at all actually. I just don’t get the appeal.

No one is making you get married at one. And if others do wish to marry there, why would it bother you? How do you feel about black folk getting married at one?

When I see a Catholic church, I don't dwell on pedophilia crap either.

You, on the other hand, prefer to dwell on the dark side things
that’s quite a spinzone

Let him spin this dude. It's been quite entertaining since he injected the Catholic church into this conversation.
