So nobody should get married on southern soil at all then.
Well, nobody should get married at all then...in fact, nobody should ever celebrate anything good or positive because it's likely that something bad has happened there on those same grounds before.

Bunch of outraged snowflakes crying because they don't like someone's entertaining posting style.
Not outraged, his posts are just retarded. I just don't open his threads anymore (for the most part) because it's going to be a novel of completely and utterly stupid shite.

completely forgot about this race baiter, haven't noticed him in a while

So you don't like his style of posting and you don't even open or read his threads anymore so you think he needs a perma-ban

I was married at Nottoway, so I guess I'm a racist.

I was the best man in a wedding at Hemingbough years ago. I feel so guilty now. I don't think any black people attended though so I guess we are good.
Hemingbough wasn't an actual plantation, just built to replicate one, so you are ok.

quote:I don't think anyone is actually trying to "understand the history" of place by scheduling a wedding at a plantation. I also don't think that people who decide to have their wedding at a plantation are racist. With that being said, let's also be realistic that some antebellum themed places like to gloss over some historical facts and paint a much brighter picture of what took place there (A few places in AL & Miss have caught flack for this).
I think continuing to host events at those places gives more opportunities to educate people and add context to their understanding of the history.
Turning away from them for events doesn’t erase history or make amends, so why not use the platform for edification?
As I've told friends before "Would I ever get married on a plantation?" Absolutely not. But I also don't see the point in freaking out over friends that do.

He’s a good poster. We need posters like him to keep this place interesting.

Hemingbough is not an antebellum plantation (it's only been around for 30-or-so years), but Arlen Dease, the creator of this facility, is responsible for saving and preserving (most notably "Nottoway") plantations from raze and ruin. So you're at least guilty by association.

I saw that on the news. That’s why I got married at the Elvis Chapel in Vegas.
Were you progressive enough to hire a black or female Elvis or are you one of those biggots that perpetuates the assumption that only white males can be Elvis????

That's my opinion and I am sticking to it.

Jump high and maybe you'll catch the point.
You'll have dozens of attendees there..

This is a racist wedding.
This is not (Rose Hill Plantation).

it's a discussion board, pretty much anything is up for discussion and I usually don't give two shits one way or another, but race baiting is not being a good poster, don't know if poster is black, white, he, she, he/she or what but that seems to be it's schtick, maybe has a tally sheet for getting people banned?
Posted on 12/5/19 at 10:05 am to biglego
He’s far more entertaining than the posters who are complaining about him.

White Oak Plantation, which was never a real plantation, is changing it's name to White Oak Pavilion and Gardens or some shite because of this.
