If you were mugged, would you fight back?

Let's say you are walking to your car one night, and a guy pops out of nowhere and holds you up at gun point for all your belongings. You look around, and not a single other person is around. The guy looks like someone you could handle in a fight, but the gun is obviously the advantage at that point.

Are you gonna give him what he wants and hope he lets you go unharmed, or are you gonna try something slick and fight back?

The bad arse movie watcher in me says I'd fight back.

The real answer is I'd probably give him what he wants, shite my pants, and hope to see tomorrow.

If he has the draw on me, then I'll just give him whatever cash I have. Probably my phone too. I'm not a dumbass or a badass.

Absolutely. Be smart. If he wanted to kill you, you'd already be dead. Your wallet and cell phone isn't worth dying over.

Chances are even if I don’t see a weapon I’m complying. I have a family to live for and fighting back only sometimes helps. The mugger is usually nervous and there’s no need to escalate the situation and make him more nervous and trigger happy.

I didn't. I gave him my cash from my wallet and he left.

pretty tough with a snub nose in your chest. I just remember being proud I did not evacuate into my shorts or start crying or some shite like that.

I CC for a reason, but if someone gets the drop on me like that? I'm giving him my wallet. It's not worth it.

Let him have my shite. I don’t carry cash and all my shite can be canceled and replaced. Unless I really believe he will kill me, I’m not going to fight him. It’s not worth it.
ETA: If I’m carrying, there is no way I’m letting him have it. That, I will fight him for. I’ll be damned if some crook gets a gun with my name attached to it.

Nope, let him have it. Probably can't get into my phone, I don't keep cash so I'd just cancel my cards. Is it even worth mugging people in 2019?

If he's good-looking I'd ask him to frisk me.

Get something out of it.

I carry 95% of the time and I'm pretty sure I would still hand some shite over. I'm out, what, $200 of cash and $800 of cellphone? Who gives a damn. That's not worth risking my life or the burden of having shot someone.

If he approached with a knife, though, that'd be a different story.

Spinoff question:

In about 5-10 years when absolutely no one carries cash, will muggings still happen?

Yes. People still wear/carry things that are valuable other than cash.

You say that, but a knife at close distance will royally frick somebody up.
