If you do use a humidifier the most important thing is keeping it clean.. worst thing for germ growth is water and mild heat. Use white vinegar and water mixed 50/50 rinse thoroughly and let it air dry.
Ive seen people bring their home devices into the hospital that are just nasty..

Bought a travel CPAP which doesn’t use water and doesn’t have a water chamber. Smaller, easier to carry through airports vs the regular CPAP

Disconnect humidifier for travel, no water. (This is more compact and less trouble)

Me too, I run long distances for fun. My issue isn't that I'm a fatass, it's somewhere in my respiratory system.

Going on 5 years using one and I have always used either regular bottled water or tap water or filtered water from my refrigerator. I dissassemble and clean every bit of my machine at least once a week though and have stuck to that. Have not had any issues.

There's definitely some real red, white, and blue cocksuckers up in this thread.
You know who you are.

Distilled water. They now sell it in 16 ounce drink bottles

Tap water works fine if you dump the remains each day and recharge with fresh. A sign of insufficient recharge frequency is a slippery slim that builds up on the tank. If your finger slips you need a thorough cleaning.
and if you really screw up and run a fouled tank dry, you get a really bad foul smell that will wake you up

I’ve used both, bottled in a pinch, rather distilled, dries me out otherwise

This is what I do. Wake up in the morning, empty the tray, rinse it out, and let it dry until the next evening. Rinse and wipe in the evening before use if needed.

I bought a waterless portable machine.

Regular bottled water is fine for travel. The reason for distilled is two fold: no bacteria and no minerals to crud up the bottom. You may start to see a little film with regular bottled water because they do add minerals for taste but it should wash out.

I did that nonsense like the 1st week of having my CPAP. I’ve had one for about 10 years. On the road , I’ll either use bottled water or tap water. Same at home. I may have used DISTILLED like 3x ever. Bunch of nonsense.

Do you use "regular" bottled water, or do you look for distilled water?
Or, put another way, is traditional bottled water "clean enough" for a CPAP, or should I be a stickler and use only distilled water?
This geezer thanks you for any information you can share.
When I used water, I never used anything but distilled water. At some point I realized that water wasn't making any difference so I stopped.
Using nothing but distilled water kept the reservoir as clean as the day I first used it.

Distilled every time. Unless you plan to run vinegar through it to remove the calcium and magnesium deposits. Drinking water has Ca and Mg.

Use distilled. Any Walgreens or CVS has it. All the grocery stores do as well.

I stopped using the humidifier. Better sleep.

So you're telling me that my brother who's 6'7 215lbs, doesn't drink or smoke, walks around a hospital all day for work, and rides a real bike 100 miles a week just needs to trade in his cpap for a barbell and echo bike? retard.

It’s absolutely incredible how so many of you can’t distinguish the 5% from the 95% and take it so personally.
Like mind numbingly dumb
