a $1000 investment in Bitcoin in Dec 2011 would be worth $50MM

And you would have lost about $7MM in the last 24 hours.

What's the market average?

Based on how the graphic in the OP was done - no dividends - $1,000 in the S&P 500 10 years ago would be ~$1800 today.

, props for the otherworldly return, but losing $7MM in a day isn't fun regardless.

I don't think that chart is taking into account stock splits and buybacks. You can't just look at Apple stock price from 10 years ago.

in 2010 Bitcoins were $0.08 cents per coin. If you invested $1000 into them then you'd have $123,200,375.00 dollars today.

One of the first purchases with Bitcoins was someone spent 10k coins on 2 pizzas...I bet they wish they'd used cash.

frick me. I almost did exactly that back when Bitcoin first came about but didn't quite trust the safety and security of it so I didn't do it.

Actually replaced the GE LED bulbs in the house. They are the only ones I've had any trouble with. Phillips and EcoSmart have been fine.

i think the only way to pull that on off would be to buy Bitcoin, get knocked into a coma, then wake up today to sell
