re: If you have a PO Box, why?

My parents got a P.O. Box after they lost their home to a fire. It took months for insurance to finally pay out. They bounced around from different family members letting them stay with them before they had a more permanent address.
Was much easier to have mail sent to P.O. Box during that time.
Allstate Insurance even had the new P.O Box on file...and still sent insurance check to the mailbox on a house that was destroyed by a fire.

Live in a really rural area off the road system. Everybody in the community has one (around 7K population)

My wife is a criminal defense attorney. She doesn't want clients to know her address.

subtle "I'm capable of maintaining a mailbox at my home address" brag

A landlord can use a PO Box as an address for tenants to mail their rent checks, so that the tenant doesn’t know the landlord’s actual address.

Lots of small businesses have them, but you don't know it because the address for their box has a suite number instead of a box number.
That's what I had until recently. I prefer that over a PO box.

As people have said. A lot of businesses have them.
Most that do are typically because they don’t want there actual business location known whether it’s because they are working out of their home or it’s a shady business and they don’t want disgruntled customers showing up at their door.

People who live in really rural area need one. I have a friend that has one because no one can find his house. If you type in his address on any mapping or GPS apps, it sends you to the wrong place. No matter how many times they try to call and fix things, it never works. All their mail and packages go to a PO box.
Business owners use them as well. Especially people who work from home. You don’t want clients and customers to have the address to your private residence.

I had one when I was first out of college because my apartment mail box seemed sketchy. Applied for a credit card and never received it. Went through a hassle with the bank cancelling so no more apartment mailbox.

1. I get liquid pharmaceuticals. They need to be free from freezing and 99 degrees.
2. Trolls live under the bridge.
Humans. Homeless.
My house mailbox is just your old fashioned box. No lock.

Everyone i know who has a PO box(3 people), have rental property, so that's where they have the checks and stuff sent.

A place to mail checks to. Don't want people mailing them to an unstaffed warehouse.

somebody just told me recently Texas now allows you only to have a po box to get the sales tax.. the guy said they changed it a few years ago to have a physical address but recently went back to allowing a po box.. was looking into it a little when i was looking for a camper over here. the sales tax here compared to inside City limits of Gonzales was less.
never ended up buying a camper so i don't know how true that is.

My grandfather owns a ranch in a tiny town, less than 100 people. Everyone their has a PO Box because USPS won't drive to all the ranches to deliver.

When I owned rental property I had a PO Box for my checks and bills related to it. After I sold out I kept it to get mail I didn't want stolen out of my box at home.

I had one before I was married because I travelled constantly for work and didn't want it piling up. I tried using my parent's address as my mailing address but my mom wouldn't stop "accidentally" opening my mail. PO Box was an easy fix.

Kinda hard to serve a subpoena or officially notify someone who only has a PO Box.

One of our sales guys has a PO Box - his wife is a state prosecutor. They intentionally limit where their actual address is shown.
