absolutely. I hear it used regarding time only in the spring and associated with the time change. "spring forward" v/s "fall back"

Press the back button. Or the forward button. Whichever one makes sense to you.

Definition of forward

: to or toward what is ahead or in front

By definition it is 8am... although any sane person would be questioning that time and should ask for verification.

Is it a bi-weekly meeting? Twice a week or every other week?

You may as well be talking to me in a foreign language when you expect me to understand this. It isnt you, it is me.

Well moving a meeting back 2 hours means 12pm so moving it forward (up) it would be 8am.

they are talking about time as it appears on a linear scale. Going backwards from our present moment.

Moving a meeting back is moving it further back in the day like you'd see on a schedule or agenda.

In every schedule or agenda representation I have seen, forward (left to right) or down would be later in the day or week. Back (right to left) or up would be earlier.

But it is imprecise language.

A much better way of putting it, but I would always put the actual new meeting time and day so there is no confusion no matter what was used in front of it.

And if you work for a large multi-national, i hate when they dont specify the time zone, leaving me to guess .

On another note, and i realize this isnt a thread about pet peeves, but it’s sort of on-topic- ive been interviewing for new jobs lately, and i constantly get requests from recruiters and HR people to see if i can do a ‘call’ on whatever day at whatever time.. Problem is, in our post-Pandemic world, half the time they mean a phone call, and half the time they mean a video call (Zoom, Teams , et al)…. Sometimes i know ill be driving or out in the field, and would be available for phone but not video …I just wish people would take the time to add the word ‘video’ or ‘phone’, would save a lot of back and forth and guesswork .

If we can agree that the future is in front of us, then by that definition 12 noon is more forward than 10am.

Anyone who doesn't say 8am should be beaten with a club.

No Sir... That is actually twisting the wording around there.

8am is forward of 10am. Also 8am is in front of 10am.

Just like to poster back said.. Spring forward, Fall Back... In spring forward you move the clock ahead one hour from 10am to 9am...
