I would have said New Zealand before the pandemic but they spiraled into authoritarianism quickly. It seems like a great place, overall, though.

Switzerland. I like the country, the people, and its culture. It is a short train ride away from all of Europe. You certainly couldn't live like a king there on $10mm but I have some transferable work skills to augment that if I wasn't able to take any of my own money with me.

I'm a military history buff. I find WW II in the Pacific intriguing. So somewhere in the South Pacific. I'm already a hermit so I'd enjoy the seclusion.
In real life we already see millionaires and billionaires buying up NZ. Its got to have something going for it. Untouched lush, beautiful landscape. So many movies get their background shots from there.
It seems like you could get plenty of solitude but still have civilization right around the corner. And it is a part of the West, so you wouldn't be an outsider so much.

Wow, El Salvador, really? It one if the poorest and most dangerous countries in the world. It is ruled by gangs. I'd be scared walking around with $100, much less, $10m.

If NZ hadn't gone completely left-wing totalitarian, there. Probably Poland.

No. He said you "had to leave the continent."
That knocks out Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean countries like Bahamas and Jamaica. The Central American countries like Costa Rica and Belize are usually considered part of North America for geographic/continent purposes. Same for Greenland.

Yeah, some people failed geography in here.
FWIW- I wouldn’t mind a nicer South American country.

I’d pick any place in the Southern hemisphere, because if the SHTF and a war started between the US and Russia or China, nobody will be nuking installations south of the equator, hopefully.

That makes this scenario pointless. "What foreign country would you like to live in" is all you're asking.
exactly
There are some places easier to live on the cheap than others. The $10 million puts almost everywhere on the table.
