Yup. For example Omaha…brutal winters and the summers are equally hot. College World Series is usually unbearable.

I have some friends who live in Ventura, CA. They have neither AC nor central heat in their house. Year round 72 degrees. average temperature.
There is a letter Oscar Wilde wrote on a tour of the US, where he mentions he is about to arrive in a village called Los Angeles, "which is apparently viewed as a sort of Naples by the locals"

That attitude and the movies would sell SoCal to millions

In my opinion those are people who prefer cool weather. They need to heat their pools and they wear wetsuits when they go in the ocean

do younger people still view SoCal as the Promised Land of Endless Summer where California Girls frolic all day in bikinis on the beach?

Or has that perception finally given way to Commiefornia?

Southern California has the better weather but I’ll take South Carolina over California any day.

Ha. I thought you might show up in this thread

I’m drinking beers by the pool listening to the crowd at the Riverdogs game. Life is good.

California was deep red for a long time. Wild to think about.

Sounds lovely… it’s been muggy, buggy, and hot as hell in the midlands… feels like up to 114°.

What’s your beer of choice this fine Sunday?

Some buddies and I are coming up to Columbia for the Tennessee game. LFG Cocks.

People will say San Diego, but they get the May Gray and June Gloom. May is glorious here and June has been fantastic.

The gloom wears off by noon, which causes temps to rise to mid 70s. Then it falls to low 60s at night. That sounds awful for those two months. Not sure how they stand it. You sold me.

Quite the beer selection!

Stay cool in Columbia… it’s swamptastic!

If you can, Prohibition Grill is pretty awesome- it is on top of my favorites list. Excellent food! The mixed drinks I had were really good too.

I wanna be able to go in the ocean when I'm at the beach or boating to swim or pee and not be cold. Our pool just hit 86 degrees and the ocean is already warm enough to go swimming and not feel cold

And low/mid 70s isn't great beach weather.

That's where we got brunch last year when we were in town for the Kentucky game (the last one they won, sigh). Great spot in a cool area of town.

You just described all coastal communities on the gulf coast, with the exception of the gulf coast having warmer winter high temperatures.
