I’d turn it into a Texas Live thing. Bunch of bars, restaurants, shops, huge concert area and huge screens all over. It would be the go to pre game place for any event at NRG.
Picture the rodeo beer garden but x100 and indoors. Plus it’s year round so it can be used for any event.
Call it Astrodome Live!
This would be nice for maybe a couple of years, and then boo boo karma will eventually destroy it. Especially in a city like Houston that wouldn't dare control the bears.

On youtube I saw a family who bought an old school house building and turned it into a house and ever since then I have been thinking of things that would be cool to build a house out of.. If I had frick you money I would buy it and turn it into a big arse house.

Tear it down for charged parking for events at Reliant. It was $65 to park for that Saints/Texans game two years ago. I would retire and just charge for event parking.

Something free for the folks of Houston
The cheese balls option would be legit for me, but not sure how practical

True unfortunately. Arlington is nothing like the part of Houston where the astrodome is. Lots of undesirables nearby. They’ll ruin it quickly. The quality of employee you get from that pool is bad too.

It cannot be torn down because it's on the historic registry
Also by state law that governs Harris County which owns the Astrodome property tax cannot be used to reconfigure or fix the Dome But tourist acts are the beds on head stacks could be and must be spent on things that generate tourism dollars which admittedly Houston doesn't have a whole lot of attractions
There was a proposal passed by Commissioners Court in 2017 that would have converted it into two levels of underground parking and nine acres of usable space that the rodeo could use to hold the fair indoors
cost 233 M,, and the asbestos mitigation work was completed
the oil and gas industry wanted to use it for conventions

The World Cup is coming to Houston. There was a hope that if the Astrodome could be converted into the 9-acre usable space that Houston could perhaps get a semi or at least a quarter final if not final, but that was unlikely
Plus the World Cup is an absolute financial drain on any of the host cities so it wasn't like a good idea but it was trying to make a bad idea better
Of course that would put it in competition with George R Brown Convention Center, which is owned by the city of Houston, which perhaps is why Rodney Ellis and Lena Hidalgo have held it up
Since Democrats could more easily control City of Houston spending then they got Harris County.
Granted now Harris County is gotten itself in the shitter in a quick 6 years
I had at least two meetings with Baylor College of Medicine where the space on the exterior of the Dome, the walkways and food service areas could be converted into office and hospital space with their sports medicine It's very close to the Medical Center space could have been rented out because space is limited in the Medical Center
I could go on with more facts but none of you are listening or reading at this point

Astrodome Casino…world’s largest casino floor, indoor pools, and other entertainment options like an amphitheater. Hotel rooms where the stands are. People can look out over the casino floor, pools, and amphitheater.
High limit slots in a special room built just below the center ceiling. There is a special center elevator with windows to access the high limit area.
Sorry Lake Chuck, your Houston money may dry up.

The very first call with FIFA attorneys, they actually mentioned OUT LOUD that they expected the host city to provide escorts for its dignitaries
And I had to clarify after the phone call if they meant what I thought they meant. They also wanted host cities to guarantee them an entire terminal at the airport for a full month with no baggage check or security
proud to say that Harris County/Houston and San Diego shot that down in the middle of the conversation

This shouldn’t make anyone feel confident. Harris county already screwed up a once great thing in the Oilers by letting them leave. They’ll screw this up too.
Talk about all time iconic sports colors, name and symbol for the city. Boom. Gone and replaced years later with the world’s most generic franchise.

Bob Lainer who was the mayor of Houston at the time is the reason that the Oilers left. Bud Adams wanted to have the city of Houston donate the location where the Toyota Center is now and he was going to build the stadium on his dime there.. 86 M, which would have been cheap compared to NRG then and what it would be now
He was tired of having to be a renter at the Astrodome. That was the Houston Sports Authority that owned the dome, which is different than the Harris County Houston Sports Authority
As a businessman and the way the NFL now operates, he wasn't wrong
All that was the different contract developments when the Hofienze family lost ownership of the Astros and Harris County who owned the Astrodome, started enforcing more taxpayer-friendly rules On the Dome investment

Give it to NASA so they'll have a place to stage moon landings.

A large, clean animal shelter for the strays on the street. Taxpayers would have to foot the bill for cost of all care.
