Do you think it’s more likely to be the husband or the wife who initially thinks this is a good idea? Obviously there are outliers, but women tend to need more than just physical attraction to truly WANT to sleep with someone, so that would make it seem like it’s more likely to be the husband to push the idea.
On the other hand, if you ask married people what makes them more angry: the idea of their spouse having sex with someone else or the idea of their spouse cuddling in bed with someone else after sex, men are far more likely to pick the act of sex. Women, on the other hand, are more upset about the post sex pillow talk.
So that would make it seem like maybe it’s the wife who is more likely to try to bring swinging into a marriage. Either way, it seems like it would be a good fit for an extremely small number of couples.

FYI, not a swinger...never was, never will be but I do have a buddy that is. It doesn't work that way. Parties are usually invite only and most people that attend know each other or have been acquainted for some time. Swinger clubs(ie Colette's), you have to be a member, upload driver's licenses(to prove you're married).
Also, every person in his circle that swings is definitely NOT attractive in any way.

I guess on one end you have the whole swinger orgy with strangers or acquaintances thing and the other side the more wifeswap with a good couple friend thing. Never done either or even close but the latter seems less crazy but still problematic obviously, can’t really put the toothpaste back in the tube there.

My ex-BIL was certainly the one who told his wife he liked being cucked (no idea why.) My ex-wife was on a girls trip with her and she clearly banged a dude in the hotel room (on my ex-wife's bed, not hers, of course.) The ex-BIL was apparently only upset because he wasn't told before it was going to happen. His wife is lazy, entitled, and spoiled, and likes to get drunk and be irresponsible, but he's the one that proposed she could do it.

I had a friend whose parents were into the lifestyle. It fricked him up pretty bad, but I think they’re in their 70’s now and still together.

Honestly curious.
I've only ever know one couple that was pretty openly swingers (trust me, y'all don't want pics) and I asked the dude that exact question.
Said it ain't like the movies or porn sites.
They live a "normal" married life. Good jobs, nice home, 3 kids, a dog, etc.
Just that they would meet up with other couples and swap partners every so often.
