Not saying there isn’t a role for the private sector—obviously we need their manufacturing capacity to provide materiel. 3M makes a damn good mask. But there’s a good reason Boeing doesn’t plan wars. Someone has to decide how many JDAMs and MREs to buy, because industry will only make what they can sell. And that person works for the government. Three months ago the secretary of a nationalized health department could have started placing orders for PPE and vents. But they didn’t. And that’s what got us where we are now.

Don’t know, but in 2017 they misplaced and lost $720 million dollars worth of ammunition in Afghanistan, but no problem, it’s just taxpayer money, order some more.!

Well, we weren't really talking about that now were we? Good try to deflect from the glaring government incompetents proven time and time again.
By the way, the strategic national stockpile I mentioned earlier is government owned/run...and they didn't restock as they should have after H1N1 (Blaming both administrations here). That, on its own, has proven that government shouldn't be anywhere close to running healthcare and wanting to nationalize it is just a terrible idea altogether. We are doing a bang up job and are handling it better than any other nation. I cannot say the say for the Europeans' nationalize healthcare system.

The system is failing because of government involvement more than anything else.
I, and many like me, don't want more governmental involvement in healthcare. I want way, way less.

You didn't answer the question, nimrod. Physicians and nurses in the U.S. make a lot more than almost any other developed country in the world - like 2 - 3X or more. It's not even close. A quick Google search would tell you that.
As a former soldier myself, you're embarrassing yourself with this. The industrial economics of the military and healthcare are nothing alike.

Why can’t we be thankful the private sector geared up and launched into producing masks, ventilators, and other equipment for all over the country, instead of hoping / dreaming / wishing that big government could somehow do better?
