Private health care or public health care I don’t think it matters which one it was under these circumstances. You don’t build hospitals to sit 50% empty and build up countless supplies for what if pandemics. If you want that then you will pay an arse load more in taxes under a public health care system to afford empty hospitals with doctors and nurses on standby waiting for the next pandemic . And you can stock up on ventilators all you want but who knows what kind of virus would be next and if ventilators would even be needed to treat next virus. So what do you do stock up on every known medical supply known to man using tax payers dollars and hope for the best? In a perfect world yes but good luck finding people who want higher taxes to do so. Most people in the USA feel we are taxed too much as it is.

We can respond nationally to crises. That's fine. It makes sense.
Aside from that. I take care of my body. I eat well. I work out nearly every day. I fail to see why I should have to pay to take care of the millions of land whales who smoke and treat their bodies like dumpsters.

Never heard of “Blackwater”, Triple Canopy”, and host of other private military contractors our military outsources to for boots on the ground gun carrying type work. Private entities have offered to clean up many of our Middle East hot spots, and for a lot less money than it is costing the taxpayer now.

Strategic National Stockpile
It was raided by the Obama admin for H1N1 (as it should, that’s why we have it) and never fully replenished it.
Honestly, it’s a great idea to have and we do store a shite ton of items from your list; other stockpiles include oil, raw materials, guns, aircraft, tanks and the dumbest things that are important. However, some items are red-headed step-children and never get the attention they deserve.
But how that not being replenished means we need to nationalize the best healthcare system, one that was the MOST prepared per Johns Hopkins, is one foolish idea. I realize one political party wants the government to run every aspect of healthcare, but the government can’t even stock items that THE GOVERNMENT mandated itself to stock and periodically check to ensure readiness. The private sector will pull us out.

The government can’t run anything correctly. Look at most government entities. Why do you think healthcare would be any different?
