The cop reacted to remove a hostile person who was within a reasonable distance to potentially do harm or disarm him. I don’t know how cops are trained to respond
They are trained to NOT allow themselves to be in that position to begin with. Not only did he allow himself to be in that position, but he stepped into it. He *wanted* to be in that position.

No, she didn’t. She’s still way out of line.

The quote in the article makes it sound like he was allowed to use that kind of force when she got into his face. Why is he being relieved of his duties?

quote:

Steadman Stahl, president of the Miami-Dade Police Benevolent Association, told the newspaper the officer hit the woman with an “open-hand slap,” which is also called called a “diversionary strike.”

“Clearly she was the aggressor. She was being asked to leave. She’s being belligerent and she pushes her face right into his face,” Stahl said.

The whole mess started because she was irresponsible and missed her flight. She was so belligerent that the ticket booth worker had to call the police. Then the woman became aggressive and defiant against the police officers.

Why is this story in any way, shape, or form negative against the officer?

Clown world.

Will she, or will she not think twice about acting like that to a cop again? Slap was warranted and deserved.
This will most likely amplify whatever negative feelings she already had toward cops.

Ah, yes, imagine a wonderful world where cops routinely go around smashing faces!

And him sitting there taking it would have done nothing to change her attitude either. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I'm told this already happens. Might as well do it and remove all doubt. At least it will make the ANTIFA/BLM crowd think twice before attacking police officers.

Absolutely won’t.

ETA
I’m saying that because it looks like she’s been slapped like that before

He didn't have to take it. He should have kept a safe distance, perhaps with an extended arm, and placed her under arrest if she kept advancing. If she had resisted, *then* he could have knocked her the frick out.

Instead, he allowed her too close, and he got too close to her, too. That's where he fricked up.

That was police body cam footage if I'm not mistaken?

I think what's meant is that every time someone goes after a LEO, there's 20 people standing there holding phones filming everything.

I understand, but it seems that thugs always need a audience- I would never talk to a law officer like the way I’ve seen on these damn videos. It’s really sad

The article did a horrible job of reporting. He wasn't dismissed for the slap. He was fired for lying about being headbutted and having her arrested & charged for it.

This is very easy to solve. Send a social worker to handle these issues. Let things get violent and then call the cops in.

Yes imagine a world where ignorant trash didn’t get up in another person’s face nor smack a woman! Too much trash in this world.
