How much is a gallon of starbucks coffee? Yet people constantly bitch about gas prices... and that includes about $0.60/g of taxes thrown in.

It's not very volatile either way, despite what people think. Even if it is a little quick to increase when oil does, it's understandable when they know they're cost are going up in the very near future.

I understand that. I have a stake in oil. My point is when oil goes up, gas goes up almost instantly. Yet when oil goes down, it takes days or weeks for gas to go down.

Gas is only a fraction of oil. A lot of products are petro based.

I paid $2.14 here yesterday, but I have family up there and they have two gas stations that force the other to be cheaper. One station is a Murphy USA and has only been open a month or so. The first week it was open my news feed was flooded with price changes on the hour between the two stations, the priced dropped $0.13 at both places from 8 to 4 in one day.

I'm saving gas by driving over 100 mph that gets me to my destination faster than if I drove the speed limit, so in reality, my car makes gas when oil is lower in cost.

The guy who owns the station I stop is often told me as soon as the price goes up they have to raise it bc they have to buy it at a higher price. Then when the price goes down they still has gas to sell that they bought higher.
I told him to listen to what he said, it didn't make sense.

You can get them for less than 1/10 the price of a gallon of gas if you buy in bulk, you can't really do that with gas....
ETA: Actually its even cheaper. I just checked my stores current price and you can get 24 bottles for $1.88, so under 8 cents each, and milk is also under $2 a gallon. I just paid $3.31 a gallon this morning for gas.
