The Governor would likely declare Martial Law, meaning the National Guard would come in to replace the police force until something else can be arranged. When martial law is declared, the military commander of an area has essentially unlimited authority to make and enforce laws. Civil liberties like the right to free movement, free speech, or protection from unreasonable searches can be suspended. The justice system that typically handles issues of criminal and civil law can be replaced with a military justice system.
In other words, what happens to the city is it becomes safer almost overnight.

You’re actually seeing it happen in real time. A grand social experiment. This is what y’all voted for. Now live with it.

New Orleans (and Orleans Parish as a whole) is taken over by Jefferson Parish. Imagine the absolute carnage that JPSO could unleash if given the funding and increased manpower.

Yeah, I heard it’s being gentrified or re-gentrified.
But it’s still pretty ghetto.

At first nothing. nobody will care until doctors and nurses start getting murdered on their way to UMC.
After that, martial law probably.

Don't the cops they have mostly just hide during their shifts, now?
Why put your life on the line to arrest a hardened 17-year-old, just to see him let go, with zero punishment?

Not much. The crime rate will reduce slightly.

is that so? It’s not like we don’t have ample examples of this not being remotely true after the wave of “defund the police” budget cuts by Democrats after 2020 followed by massive crimes spikes in the same cities.
but never mind all that
