This is blatantly buying voter loyalty. You were never the intended audience. Your voting tendencies likely already entrenched. The goal is to rally 20-30 somethings long term support and party alignment.

Didn't TOPS massively contribute to the explosion of luxury apartments and condos around campus. During my LSU days, if I needed to make a call, I used the pay phone at a nearby convenience store b/c I didn't have a phone. Only had a bicycle for 2 years, no car. Lived in some very basic apartments in Tigerland (which was very safe) and surrounding. Sold plasma a couple times a month on Chimes St. Took a year off to work on an oil rig to save money.
TOPS has freed things up such that a lot of students are not sweating the true needs but rather the wants. So I didn't have TOPS, but I was busting my arse working in restaurants til after midnight. My buddy did a newspaper vending machine route that meant he had to wake up a 2:30am and work 7 days a week. A lot of people I knew struggled like that.
I believe people should pay their loans back, period. But you are bragging about being given money while bitching about people who took out loans basically being given money.
YOUR reward was f#$king TOPS. That ain't magic money; it is taken from La. taxpayers to be given to others.

This may not help, but take solace in the fact that you did things the right way. I had $25K in loans (from the mid 80s), which I paid back in full. I also paid for both of my children through graduate school, so I know how you feel.
I just remember my dad telling me (as a youngster) that I should not count on Social Security being solvent when I was eligible - he said I must rely on myself. I did just that, and now I could not care less whether Biden forgives student loans.
