LINK

You'll have to change to state near top, all 50 are separate. it doesn't give number of cases just numbers in death and hospital resources needed vs available. Click on graphs for number estimated on the median lines.

I got a call from a polling organization the other day.

They asked a bunch of questions about, after the corona crisis chills, how long I would wait (none, a few days or weeks, a few months, etc.) to go to a movie, fly on a plane, stay in a motel, eat at a restaurant, etc.

It made me realize that everything won't immediately "go back to normal" when the stay home orders are lifted. This thing is going to have a long tail.

but we may have to face a choice between losing hundreds of thousands of people or more vs absolutely destroying our economy. How would our leaders communicate that it's important to conduct business and get out of your house after freaking everyone the frick out and telling them to stay home for months.
if we maintain some measure of social distancing, mask wearing, hand washing and sanitizing, and can do infection testing as well as antibody testing asap when someone reports symptoms we can basically have a normal life relatively soon.

But it's going to take people not being selfish assholes and being willing to isolate if they're showing symptoms.

Once manufacturing of PPE and ventilators, etc reaches a point where hospitals have what they need, we will be better prepared to fight a 2nd wave.

agree...I do wonder though even if government shut downs are lifted, how soon the public will feel safe to go about normal life especially if cases and deaths continue to rise. I hope this isnt the case....but we may have to face a choice between losing hundreds of thousands of people or more vs absolutely destroying our economy. I think it will be a gradual lift of restrictions over a 6-8 week period. I assume there will other waves of infections and deaths until a vaccine is in place or the virus “runs its course”, if that is even a thing.

How soon will you go back to restaurants, movie theaters, church, etc...? Anything you will still avoid for a while?

The virus isn't going to just go away
Social distancing to flatten the curve is just prolonging when more people will be exposed to it

So I probably won't go to any major city especially Nola
Don't go to the movies anyways
No concerts if they even have concerts
The first big crowd I might go around would be an LSU game
Ill go to restaurants

I am gonna let most of you run out into the front line once the “all clear” is given. Two weeks later I will make my decision.

Even if POTUS lifts the fed mandate the local govs won’t do it. They are power drunk right now and will drag this out waiting for the wave that may never come. Even if numbers start declining they will drag it out “ just to be sure”.

My hope is we open everything but keep as many people working from home as possible, keep up social distancing and masks. At offices only allow virtual meetings. Things like that
