If a person or group wanted to destroy social media, how would it be done?

Im talking to the point that no one would want to use it. Is that possible? Is it inevitable anyway?

Is that possible?
You would have to destroy the internet.

It's close to destroying itself without any help.

Die and go to heaven?
Alternate universe?
Something something matrix?
Because what you are talking about cannot become a reality short of a mass extinction or a catostrophic human casualty event

Just unplug their routers

You'd need a replacement.
It's faster and cheaper than sending a letter and people can respond on their own time which beats phone calls. And it can mass broadcast - you don't have to try to remember everyone.

Make the platform randomly send full text and internet history to all contacts.

It's not remotely close to that.

I guess it would take legitimate fear, like in a communist regime.

Encourage polarization and watch half the users leave.
Thats assuming of course half have the balls to leave.
Social media is built on the premise that it is fair and impartial. Take that away support crumbles.

Just destroying one platform would create a vacuum for another platform to thrive. No way you could eliminate all social media unless you eliminate the internet

Get as many old people on it as possible. Already worked with Facebook

Individual entities can destroy themselves by censoring the comments and opinions of 50% of the people.
If dissent is not allowed, it just becomes a big circle-J.

People will always, always want to talk with people who share a common interest. As long as the internet exists, social media will in some form or fashion.
