Students taking pictures and videos of student outfits and rating them on Tik-Tok
Sorry but this sounds hilarious

Back when I was a teacher I had one student who carried 3 smart phones .
One year a male student asked me what kind of "outfit" I was getting for Easter. He became angry with me when I told him only women wear "outfits" .
Sidenote: The high school where I taught, the students would schedule their fights on facebook via their phones daily.
Now these dummies were not too smart. If I was in school today I could run a profitable business by taking photos of a math/science/whatever test and selling those to other dummies.

Here are just a few of the cell phone problems I’ve had during class in the last week:
1) Three students caught cheating on a test trying to Google answers on their phones.
2) Students running internet on their chromebook through their cell phone’s hotspot to avoid monitoring on Go Guardian, which is a tool that allows teachers to see what is on each student’s screen.
3) Students using Bluetooth earbuds to listen to music from their phones while I’m actively giving instruction. Call on one of them to answer a question, and they have no idea what you asked.
Yes, I could spend all my time trying to take their phones. Do it and you get attitude from the students and most of their parents. If they do decide to give the phone up without being sent to the office, they get it right back at the end of the day.
ETA: these are 7th graders.

I bet if a kid did something and the teacher took their phone away the parent would be up there raising 3 kinds of hell.
If I was in charge, I wouldn't allow them on campus. Not because I am an old out of touch bastard, but because I think kids should be able to live without having their phones on them.
And teachers would only be allowed to use them in a certain part of school.. Teachers lounge, teachers bathrooms, and anywhere in case of an emergency.
When I was in school and a teacher took something away from you IF they gave it back it would be at the end of the year. Teachers used to take the frick out of some walkmans (yes I could still listen to walkmans although I wasn't a man who couldn't walk.. save you idiots time from trying to make a joke).
I let a dude borrow my The Chronic CD and he had his CD headphones listening to it on class and got it taken away. I was so pissed, but I went to that teacher and told her that I let him use my CD and told her that he promised he wouldn't listen to it in class. I told her some bullshite and she gave it to me like a week later.
Plus, I don't think kids should have the ability to record shite at school. If a teacher calls them worthless frick sticks they shouldn't get fired over it so if they can't record it there is no proof. They just have to deal with getting called a worthless frick stick.

Rightful so.
The students are the ones that did this to themselves.
When you do stupid shite, there are consequences

As a former hs admin......good luck with all of this. It’s not so much battling kids as it is parents.

So, if a kid brings a Boom Box, you can’t make them not have and play it in the classroom?
Let’s consider the size of the items. When you go to pick up a kid’s phone and they put it in their pocket, then what? Are you going to stick your hands in a pocket to dig it out? That’s how you lose your job. Sure, you can send the kid out, call admin. That accomplishes nothing in the long term, especially when the parents get pissed at you.

Again, 3/4 of the problems in schools is because parents can’t cut the fricking umbilical cord. And then want to blame the district.
Exactly.
And when the kid starts failing because they're playing with their phones instead of paying attention in class, those same parents will blame the school and teachers.
We live in a culture of people who don't take responsibility for anything. It's sickening.

What if a kid says he/she doesn’t have a phone to put in the shoe caddy? You going to search them? What if half the class says they don’t have a phone to put in the caddy?
If they start using their phone during class, then they were lying and their phone should be confiscated.
If they don't use their phone during class, then mission accomplished anyway.

Call the main office!
Your kid is in class. They can't just take your call during a lecture and leave the room. What's wrong with you (and people who think like you)?
frick!

I was being sarcastic. I was a teacher in a high school and this was one excuse among many that students would give you. For the ones that don’t see a problem with letting them have a phone in class you know that they can take pictures of tests and things and send them around in class and to other students about to take tests.

And when the kid quickly puts the phone back into his or her pocket? Are you going to grope around? Send the kid to the office, fine, but you assume the admin will always have your back and solve the situation to where it doesn’t happen again.

Phones aren’t allowed on campus at my daughter’s middle school. Apparently some members of the community are posting Tik Tok videos of fights in the bathrooms.
HS allows them, however. Explain that one.
